A Ladies’ Diary by Graphic 45 (Part II)

Good Morning, friends!  It’s a very rainy Friday here in NC…coming down in buckets.  The frogs are loving it, and their croaking is filling in for the usual bird song that graces the early morning hours.  I have a busy day, a busy weekend ahead.  I’m watching the little ‘uns today, so Mom can prepare for Sophie’s 4th birthday party tomorrow.  And, Liz is coming in from Baltimore. Before all that happens, I wanted to share just one more card made from A Ladies’ Diary by Graphic 45:

002 (2) I love these papers!  I began with a 5″x7″ kraft card base and stitched a neutral panel around it.  I then added a dark teal panel using my messy stitching technique. (What? You didn’t know that messy stitching is a technique? Well, now you do!)  A fishtail banner was added behind for visual interest, and then the main image was cut using a tool kit from Paper Wishes. I tore the left hand edge, inked it up with Vintage Photo, and then stitched around the whole thing.

 005 (2)

I stamped the frame twice, cut out the center with a craft knife and then stamped the sentiment.  I popped the frame up on foam tape to give it dimension.

The bow was dyed with Tattered Rose Distress Stain.  I added a pearl button, and the card was complete.  This is also a note card with an empty interior….but plenty of room to fill it up with all of the antics going on at Downton Abbey!  (Is any one else waiting with bated breath for the series to return?)

001 (2) Here’s the card with the matching envelope.

That’s it for me today, folks…I’ve got to get busy if I’m going to be ready for the grand girls’ arrival. I also have to bake a strawberry rhubarb pie today…so no time to play with paper.  I’ll see you all next week.  If it keeps on raining like this, we’re going to need a boat to get around! Be safe out there today…and have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks for stopping by…and thanks for your lovely comments.  They always make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers.  Until next time,

Cheerio,

kathy

I would like to know how to make the shabby-chic bow. I have the ribbon, but not sure how to crumple it correctly. Love your cards! So so many great ideas and techniques.

OK…Now I can play along since you recognize the messy stitching technique. I’m the queen of this technique and can proudly be a part of your following! Love these papers…the colors just speak to me. Sounds like you have a busy weekend planned, hoping your rain stops too!

So beautiful! I can almost hear the taffeta rustle by me as the ladies gather in the parlor. 🙂 Dang, Kathy! You see…it’s not just cards you make. You create a story, draw me in and hold me in a magical world. It’s an entire experience. Try *that* Hallmark! heh heh heh
