Good Morning, Friends! Today I have a very special card to share with you. Two weekends ago, Dale and I traveled to Atlanta, GA to witness the wedding of our best friends’ youngest daughter. We’ve been friends with Patrick and Dianne for 34 years. Dianne was the very first real girlfriend I had in my adult life. We had babies together, potty trained together, commiserated together during the teen years and shared some tears, too. But mostly, we’ve had a lot of fun! So what do you do when your best friends’ youngest daughter gets married? You make a special card….a wedding card for Danielle and Kevin!
Danielle is an artist “for real” and her work is gorgeous. So I was a bit intimidated at the thought of making a card for her. But when I received the wedding invitation, I was inspired by the elegant black and white design and the gorgeous belly band. I knew I would use that belly band somehow on the card. As you can see, it ended up on the handmade gift box.
All those roses are handmade….and yes, it took a long time. But I think the final result was worth it. Don’t you? Danielle does a lot of intricate calligraphy and her sketches with pen and ink made me think of this black and white paper. I decided to make a 6″x6″ square card with a matching gift box. The paper is Bo Bunny’s “Enchanted” . It’s an older line, but I love the detailed black and white graphics.
I used my craft knife to carefully evacuate the circle from the card panel. I layered the resulting “frame” onto my card base using foam tape. Then I mounted the black circle onto a piece of corrugated cardboard and secured it with foam tape. The label was also popped up on foam tape because I wanted a lot of dimension. The edges were heavily distressed and inked. The ribbon was run through the circle opening before being tied into a bow. I spritzed all the roses with Tattered Angels Black Magic Mist.
The interior continues the black and white theme. I fussy cut the label from the collection and wrote the sentiment by hand. There’s also a personal note to the bride and groom. I used Diamond Stickles to accent several elements on the box front and also a little inside the card to finish things off.
I hand delivered the gift to Danielle the night before the wedding, and she loved the fact that I used her belly band on the box lid. She can store little keepsakes from her wedding weekend and honeymoon in the box. I have to say, the wedding was just filled with beauty everywhere. Dianne worked for a whole year to make the event memorable, elegant and extremely lovely. It was a sweet wedding, and I found myself getting a little teary-eyed as this very special bride made her way down the aisle. Ah, love……it gets me every time!
And that’s it for me today, friends! Thanks for taking time to stop by the blog. I love sharing my creations with you, and I love hearing your comments. They make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers. Until next time…
A quick PS….I just learned that I have been selected to continue on the Heartfelt Creations Design team for another 6 month term! I am ecstatic! Thank you so much for your support…I can’t wait to share new ideas and creations with you all.
