Bee Happy Pocket Card for RRR Things with Wings Challenge
Hey, Ribbon Lovers! It’s time for another fabby challenge over at the Really Reasonable Ribbon BLOG. This time around, our theme is Things with Wings. Oh, the possibilities! I created this Bee happy pocket card using the fabulous “It’s the Bees Knees” Creativity Kit from Polly’s Paper Studio.
I got a little inky making this card. I started with a 5″ x 6.5″ white card base that I stamped with a script background and then heat embossed. Next, I ran the base through a honeycomb embossing folder. I sponged on warm honey tones of Distress Ink: Wild Honey, Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, Tea Dye and Spiced Marmalade. Then the entire surface was sponged lightly with Tea Dye DI and spritzed and flicked with water to create a gorgeous background layer.
I layered up elements from the creativity kit with cardstock, burlap and lots of machine stitching to add even more texture to the card. I pulled out my favorite Black and White Houndstooth Plaid Ribbon to create my bow and topped it with a chipboard button and antique gold burlap string. A loopy bow made with 3/8″ Old Gold organza was positioned behind the main bow to add a little shimmer and shine.
Some gold sequins were tossed in just for fun, along with star stick pins and gorgeous sugared blossoms from Petaloo.
The inside of the card has a sentiment panel that I created by stamping a bee with Versamark Ink and heat embossing with clear powder. Then I just sponged in those same ink colors to create a resist effect. The sentiment was computer journaled. The pocket on the right contains a vintage button card and a bookmark that is topped with two pretty charms, burlap string and more houndstooth ribbon.
Now it’s your turn! Create your own “things with wings” project and link it up over on the RRR BLOG. I’ll be popping by to pay you a visit, and you know I can’t wait to see what you make!
