Heartfelt Creations Wednesday: Believe in the Magic of Christmas

Good morning, friends, and welcome to another weekly edition of Heartfelt Creations Wednesday!  Today, I’m featuring a Christmas card made using the gorgeous Christmas Card Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  Some of you may be thinking that Christmas is very far off indeed, but do you realize that we are just 126 days away from Christmas?  And, if you are like me, and enjoy sending out hand made Christmas greetings, you only have about 2 1/2 months to get them ready to mail.  My point is, it is definitely not too early to start making your Christmas cards for this year.  Let’s take a look at today’s card: Believe in the Magic of Christmas. Remember, you can click on the photos for a larger picture.

Let the Paper Do the Heavy Lifting

Heartfelt Creations August 2013 12  Today’s card is another example of making a beautiful card where the paper does most of the heavy lifting.  I created a 6″x6″ card base from green glitter cardstock.  Next, I cut this gorgeous wintry scene from the Christmas Card Paper Collection.  I love the way this paper resembles a hand-stamped scene…but it’s just the paper design.  I did treat the paper to some special effects, and you can read about those in detail below.  I wanted to enhance this snowy scene by adding some dimensional embossing powder and some glitter:

Heartfelt Creations August 2013 13 If you click on this photo, you should be able to see the snowy fields I created with my Shabby White embossing powder and glitter flakes.  It was difficult to capture with the camera, but in person, it is very dramatic.  I also added the powder to the tree branches and some of the roofs in the scene.  The edges were heavily distressed and inked.  The elegant Ornamental Add-On Die was die cut in metallic silver and added to the corners.

I also stamped “Believe in the Magic of Christmas” from the Holly Berry Set onto clear acetate along with the pine cone from the Sweet Memories pre cut stamp set.  Heartfelt Creations August 2013 11 (2)

The interior of the card features an embossed and inked panel with another set of the acetate pine cones and the word “Believe” from the Love at Christmas pre cut set.   I matted a sentiment from the paper collection onto green cardstock, and this card was finished in record time.

That’s all for me today, friends.  Enjoy these last few days of August…and for those of you in the US, I hope you enjoy a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  If you are traveling, I pray you will be kept safe, and if you are having a “staycation” like my dear husband and me, I hope you will find time to relax, read…and create!  Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for all the kind comments you leave me.  They make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers.  Until next time,

Oh Kathy, I love this. I’m with you on using this wonderful paper…and you did the inside too. I seldom do the insides as I like to leave space to write something inside. I love how you did yours!

Hi Kathy, it seems so long ago that I visited your blog:( Today I have the morning to myself, hubby has gone to work after having almost 4 weeks off….which I am amazed that he actually took the advice of the doctors, although he has still been doing the paper side of his business he left the running of it to our son. I actually think he has enjoyed spending the time at home with no pressures:). My daughter has now gone home after the baby, she did go home the other day, but it was far to early so she came back……she is only round the corner so it will only take grandma a few minutes to get to her if she needs me:)
I have been on the HFC DT blog and had a catch up on what all you very talented ladies have been up to and I must say you have all been so busy! I can’t wait to play with the new release:) I adore this card that you have made, these papers really do all the hard work for you:) and I love your shabby vintage feel that you have given the edges! x Now I must go and post my creation, just wanted to hop over and say hello x
    Take care, hugs Nikki x
