Birds and Blossoms Gift Box 02

Birds and Blossoms Gift Box

Hello, Friends!  I have been having the best time playing with the new digital Birds and Blossoms Vintage Scraps from Crafty Secrets!  There are 4 downloadable pages filled with botanical images.  I’ve always loved these Vintage Scraps, but now that they come in a digital form, I find them to be even more versatile.  For today’s project, I made a sweet little Birds and Blossoms Gift Box using the images that used to be found on the inside of the original scraps.  I always struggled with which side of those images to use, as they were all beautiful, but now that I can print as many as I like, I don’t have that struggle any more.  Here’s a peek at my gift box:

Birds and Blossoms Gift Box 01

I printed out 2 8 1/2″ x 11″ copies of the inside page onto heavy natural cardstock.  Then, I used my Heartfelt Creations Gift Ensemble Die to cut the 4 gift box panels out.  I simply folded, glued the bottom and sides together and then folded the top flaps down to make my box.  You can fill it with all kinds of things: individually wrapped candy, gift cards, tea bags, hand made flowers, jewelry, tickets….any small gift will tuck neatly inside..  The finished box measures 2 3/8″ x 3 1/2″ so you can really fit a lot inside.

I made a little bird nest out of Natural Jute Ribbon by just sort of folding it around into a circle and hot gluing it together. I didn’t want my nest to be glued to the top of the box, because then you couldn’t open it!  No fun there!  So I bent a quilting pin with a large head to a 90 degree angle, glued the head of the pin to the base of the nest and then just inserted the shaft of the pin into the little opening in the box.  I fussy cut the robin and the little birthday tag from the vintage scraps.

All four sides are decorated so you can change the view if you get tired of it! LOL

Birds and Blossoms Gift Box 03You can put a small, inexpensive gift into this Birds and Blossoms gift box, and it still feels really special because of the packaging.  What would you put inside?

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope I planted some new ideas for using the Birds and Blossoms Vintage Scraps, and maybe inspired you to try using digital images, too.  If so, I hope you’ll let me know in the comment section below. It will make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!

I love Spring, birds and all things vintage that go along with the two. Your little bird box is so sweet. I love the lacy edging and the sweet little birds nest that you have sitting atop your box. <3 Candy

A beautiful box and of course, I love the little robin’s nest on top! I like the decorated sides, so the view can change depending on how you display the box. I would put little papers inside to jot down blessings or worries…and then turn them over to God. Sometimes it really helps to me to let go and let God when I write them down. As always, I love your work – you are fab.u.lous!

WOW! Kathy, this a super, super box. hard to give away, but what a blessing someone would receive. I would a special candy inside, like See’s, individually wrapped, or maybe small things, like hand lotion, tissues, perfume, or barrettes for young girls hair, special soaps. ….list depends on what occasion. Beautifully done……a treasure to keep and display..
