Heartfelt Creations Wednesday Part 2: Bold and Bright Masculine Card
Well, it’s official…we are more than half way through this first month of 2014. We seem to be out of the “deep freeze” for the moment here in North Carolina, and I’m hoping the weather is a bit more hospitable where ever you find yourself this morning. As promised, I’m back to share my second creation for Heartfelt Creations this week. It’s a bold and bright masculine card made with the fabulous Majestic Morning collection.
At first glance, this collection might seem too “girly” to use on a masculine card. But as I flipped through the paper collection, this bold green paper caught my eye…and made me think of a John Deere tractor! LOL What could be more masculine than that? So I set about to create a masculine birthday card:
This simple card also uses stamps and dies from the Floral Key Collection. I had the little vellum envelope stashed away, and realized it was the perfect shade of green for my John Deere color palette. I added a watch face and a bit of twine along with a simple stamped sentiment to complete the card front.
I love the way you can add the stamped key to the twine bow!
I kept the inside of the card equally simple. Most men don’t want a lot of frills on their cards:
I just added a couple of fishtail banners made from the border paper and another simple stamped sentiment. You can find a complete supply list and detailed instructions for making this card on the Heartfelt Creations blog.
So, do you like making masculine cards, or do you struggle with them. I actually like making a masculine card just as much as I enjoy making the frilly, shabby cards I’m best known for. There’s something about stripping a card down to simple sentiments and images that I find very satisfying. The important thing to remember about making a masculine card is that men like to keep it simple. My husband will often look over my shoulder when I’m crafting and say, “if you stop right there, that would be a perfect card.” Usually at that point, the only thing on the card is a square of paper. LOL! This bold and bright masculine card was one that got his approval…I hope you like it, too. Let me know what you think in the comment section, won’t you? I love to hear your thoughts…it makes me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!
Until next time,
