Precious Moments, Treasured Memories Mini Album and Journal

Welcome to Heartfelt Creations Wednesday!  This week we are unveiling the beautiful new “Burst of Splendor” collection.   We’ve loaded up the blog with a wide assortment of wonderful projects, so be sure to stop by and take a look.  You’re sure to be inspired!  And, if you leave a comment, you’ll have a chance of winning the entire collection!  Wouldn’t that be nice?

For my project this week, I created a 5×7 split rectangle mini album with journal.  Here’s a look:

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 03 The full instructions and supply list are on the Heartfelt Creations blog, so I won’t repeat them here.  I’ll just share a few more photos  with you.  I have to say, I love the foliage dies that are in this collection.  I can see myself using them a lot!  They grace the cover of this fun album, and can be found throughout its pages. I designed this to be a sort of mini album/ journal, as there are lots of pockets for photos and souvenirs along with blank pages for you to write down memories and events.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 04 Here’s a close up of all those pretty dahlias.  My mom had the most gorgeous dahlias when we were growing up, so they hold a special place in my heart.  We had to dig them up every fall, separate the bulbs and then replant in the spring.  Lots of work, but so worth it when these fabulous blooms appeared in all their colorful glory. Working with the Burst of Splendor collection  reminded me of those days.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 05 The design of this album is a little different.  The pages alternate between opening to the right and opening to the left.  This first page opens to the right, and here you can see the back side of the covers, as well as the introduction page.  A handwritten quote reads,” Memories are the most beautiful pictures our minds can paint, and nothing can ever erase them .”

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 08 The next page opens to the left, and contains a diagonal pocket with a tag.  You can see that there is another pocket with tag on the facing page.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 09 This is a good example of why this album is so interesting: you can see three pages open at once, each with its own tag or journaling block.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 10 Here’s another fun pocket page with room for a photo to be tucked in under the tag.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 11  I really had a good time imagining different types of pockets for this album.  The one on the left has a decorative flap, while the one on the right has a standard pocket embellished with one of the gorgeous dahlia stamps and twine.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 12 This is the final pocket page and the first journal page.  I stamped images onto the cream colored sheets using light colors, or a stamping off technique so that you could still write on the pages.  You can see the ribbon binding holding the pages together.  There are 12 journal pages in all, and 6 double-sided pocket pages.

Heartfelt Creations July 6 2013 13 Here’s another stamped journal page.  I think this journal would be great to take on a trip.  Lots of room to write down the events of the day, room to tuck in menus, tickets, photos, pamphlets, and other memorabilia, but it would take up very little space in your suitcase.

Thanks so much for joining me for Heartfelt Creations Wednesday.  I hope you enjoyed the reveal of Burst of Splendor. Don’t forget to visit the other designers so you can be inspired by their beautiful creations as well.  You can find links to their blogs in the sidebar.  And don’t forget to leave a comment on the Heartfelt Creations blog…you just might win that wonderful prize package.  Thanks in advance for your kind comments…they make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers.  Until next time,

Kathy, this is so beautiful. I love purple so that had a little influence, but it is beyond fantastic! How did you bind it with the plastic? Are they rings, or did you use a binding machine? This one I really want to try to do, but I don’t think you did a tutorial on it. 🙁

Kathy, this is so gorgeous!! I love everything about it–the colors, the layering, the awesome pockets, the soft stamping for the journaling pages; it is truly a beautiful work of art. I don’t know how you so consistently come up with such wonderful projects. Amazing!

Totally lovely! So much attention to detail and it just blows me away at the amount of work you put on a project. Makes me tired just looking at it! Well done girl!

Amazingly beautiful, feminine and artsy. Love the lavender shades, and leaves and flowers are my passion when decorating. I will definitely look into the foliage dies. You mentioned this was a lot of work – the word “work” I presume also means joy in creating – for me at least. Thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful creations and yourself.
