Hello, Friends! Recently, I’ve been spotting the biggest, most beautiful butterflies in our back yard. I don’t know if they are migrating or just looking for some shade in our trees, but they are absolutely gorgeous. The zinnias are also in full bloom, and those bodacious blossoms always fill my heart with joy. So the butterflies and flowers were the inspiration for the card I have to share with you today.
I’ve used digital papers and images from Crafty Secrets to create this 5″ x7″ gatefold card. I printed off this elegant pink damask paper from the Creating With Vintage Patterns CD. The wonderful thing about printing your own paper is that you can size it so that the pattern is the right size for the project you are creating. I sized my pink damask design to 5″ x7″ and the petite pattern works perfectly! I also printed out a 5″ x7″ sheet of the brown butterfly papers from this CD to use as an accent and on the inside of the card. You’ll see more of that later.
I also printed out this beautiful Butterfly Chase image from Creating With Vintage Illustrations CD #2. I printed the image to 4″ square, colored it lightly with Spectrum Noir markers, trimmed it to 3 3/4″ and then matted it with both pink and green cardstock. I stitched around the edges using a messy stitching technique and then mounted it to the right hand side of the card.
I die cut the greenery using my Heartfelt Creations Bella Rose Die then added some pretty pink flowers that I tapped with Diamond Stickles. The bow is created with a layer of 1/4″ sherbet grosgrain ribbon and a layer of Iridescent White Metallic String. I topped this off with a pastel green button.
The butterfly and metal corner were in my stash. I tapped them with white acrylic paint so they would match the card. I printed out the sentiment from the Grand Greetings DAS using my PaintShop Pro to change the color from black to brown.
The inner sentiment is also from the Grand Greeting DAS and has been die cut and matted onto green cardstock. I used the brown butterfly print on either side of the gate fold, then added a pink panel that was embossed with Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Label 34. This was inked with Vintage Photo Distress ink and heat embossed with Wow Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Powder. Now try saying that 3 times fast!
Is your yard filled with summer butterflies and flowers? I love t when nature inspires a card design! Thanks for stopping by today!
