A Magical Christmas Card Kit Release for The Button Farm Club and Exciting News!

Hello, Friends!  Today I’m excited to share A Magical Christmas Card Kit Release for The Button Farm Club with you.  I’ve been planning this huge kit for weeks now.  There’s more exciting news, too…so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to discover what else is in the works!

Santa’s Nice List

This is the perfect time to get started on your Christmas cards.  It’s too hot to spend more than a few minutes outside, so you might as well “chill out” with this gorgeous Christmas collection from  Authentique.  I might have gotten a bit carried away when planning this kit.   You will be making 12 Christmas cards: one for each of the 12 Days of Christmas.  Then, because I don’t want you to ever get bored, there are 2 lovely little folios included in the kit.  And because Santa says you’ve been very, very good this year, I’ve stuffed 3 adorable Gift Card Pocket Tags into your Christmas stocking!  Finally, we will make 6 darling gift tags that are cute enough to hang on the tree as ornaments.

The Card Folios

This 6×6 gatefold style card folio has lots of room for your favorite family photos.  Add a family picture, photos of the tree, Christmas morning, or baking cookies to quickly and easily capture your special Christmas memories.

This lovely folio has lots of nooks and crannies for both large and small photos.  Y’all know how much I love an interactive card folio, and this one ticks all the boxes.

This sweet mini trifold folio can be used as a journal, or for wallet sized photos.

This would be such a thoughtful handmade gift for grandparents or family that is far away this year.

The second folio is a little brag book with a darling belly band closure.

Quick and easy to  make, this one is perfect for a stocking stuffer!

It’s also a great Secret Santa gift!

Pop Up Cards

Because I love a good pop up card, you’ll find 4 of them in this kit.  These are simple to make but impressive to give.

Tuck a gift card or small treat in the pocket (each card has one) and you’ve got a gift!

Easel Cards

Decorate your Christmas mantel with this darling pair of easel cards.  You’ll learn how to make the rosettes in the tutorial, too.

Shaker Cards

These shaker cards are sooo easy to make!   Santa’s elves shared some magical card making tricks with me, and I’m passing them on to you.

Easy to Mail

This sweet trio of easy to mail cards will only need one postage stamp to mail.

Box Pocket Card

Tall & Skinny Cards are trending this year, and you’ll be right in style with this precious box style card.  This is another card that you can turn into a gift.

Gift Card Pocket Tags

Last minute gift giving?  We’ve got you covered with a trio of handsome gift card pocket tags.  Quick and easy to make, these stylish gift card holders would also look great on the tree.

Good Things…Small Packages

Look at these cute gift tags!  Tie these on a cookie plate and you are good to go!

Christmas Mittens Twisted Easel Card Tutorial

Eileen Hull Mitten Box Die Sizzix Chapter Christmas Mittens Twisted Easel Card Tutorial with Authentique Paper A Magical Christmas by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Eileen Hull Christmas Mittens Twisted Easel Card Tutorial with Authentique A Magical Christmas

Hello, Friends!  Today I have a Christmas Mittens Twisted Easel Card to share with you.  The Eileen Hull Educator Team is featuring Eileen’s darling new Mitten Box Die and Snowman Box Die this week.  (Be sure to check out the Eileen Hull Blog on Wednesday. You’ll find a group post filled with inspiration, tutorials and ideas for her new release.)

There’s something magical about mittens at Christmas!  Instead of using the die to make a box, I created a cute focal point for this holiday card.  Authentique’s A Magical Christmas Collection is such a great partner for this cute die!  Hanging the mittens upside down with a cluster of ribbons and flowers at the top gives them the appearance of an ornament.  In fact, you could even make tree ornaments this way!  I’ll show you how to do this in the tutorial below.

TIP: Add festive mini banners by cutting card scraps with Eileen’s Banner and Pennant Thinlets Die.  Stagger the die layers to create a sense of depth and dimension   Then add cute little bows and bitty buttons to the corners.

The Twisted Easel Card

Twisted easel cards may look complicated, but they are actually very easy to make.

  • First, create a 6″ x 6″ top fold card base.
  • Next, fold the point of the bottom right corner up until it lines up with the point of the top left hand corner.  (It will look like a triangle.)
  • Then just fold and crease!  Now you have a twisted easel card base.
  • Cut mittens, rickrack, and hearts from mat board or medium weight chipboard.
  • Flip the mittens so that you have a thumb on the right and a thumb on the left.
  • When die cutting the designer paper to cover the mittens, put one piece in face down and the other face up.  This way your papers will “match” and fit the die cut properly.

TIP:  Fold the bottom left hand corner up to the top right hand corner to make a twisted easel card that faces the other direction.  Isn’t that fun?

I love using twisted easel cards as home decor.   This Christmas version would be so pretty perched on a holiday mantel!

A Hidden Pocket

The video tutorial will show you how to build the card base, add layers and create this fun hidden tag pocket.  Eileen’s Pocket and Tag Die fits perfectly behind this pair of Christmas mittens.  You can easily add a gift card to the tag with a dab of hot glue or a glue dot.  So now, this card is also a gift!

A Peek Inside

The pocket part of Eileen’s Pocket and Tag die fits perfectly in the corner of the card interior.  I tucked a little Holiday Tea Bag inside, just for fun.

A Little Christmas in July

Eileen Hull Sizzix Snowman Box Easel Card Authentique Snowfall by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

A Little Christmas in July with Eileen Hull and Authentique Paper

Hello, Friends!  I know it’s the 4th, but I just had to share a little Christmas in July with you today.  I have two of the cutest little Christmas projects, both made with Eileen Hull’s newly released Sizzix dies and Authentique papers.

These versatile steel rule dies can be used to create a dimensional box, or as mixed media elements.  Cute as a button, they are perfect for holiday gifting and card making.

Warm Hearts Easel Card

This 7″ x 8 1/4″ easel card features elements from the Snowman Box.  Here’s how I prepared the die cut pieces to build this wintry vignette.

  • First, die cut the pieces from mat board.  You will only need one box side to serve as the picket fence.
  • Mist the fence lightly with water and run it through your die cutting machine to add the wood grain texture.
  • Next, apply Gathered Twigs Distress ink to the front of the fence.  Cut an extra “v” on the box side to keep the pickets looking all the same.
  • Now apply Black Soot Distress Ink Directly to the surface of a wood grain embossing folder and run it through the machine a second time.
  • Apply Dries White Glitter Glue and Frosted Crystals to the pickets and base of the fence, then set aside to dry.
  • “Paint” the snowman bodies with Nuvo Toasted Almond Mousse. to add texture and shine.
  • Trace the snowman hats and scarves onto designer paper, cut out and apply to the snowman bodies.
  • Accessorize with burlap string, mini jingle bells and flowers.
A Peek Inside

Add a pocket inside the card to serve as the stopper for the easel mechanism.  Then prepare a little treat wallet to tuck inside.  I’ve decorated this card with Authentique Paper’s Snowfall Collection. Wouldn’t this be a great gift to send in the mail? And you can leave snowman décor up long after the holiday has passed.  They are just so cheery!

On the Nice List: Mitten Treat Box

I have a soft spot in my heart for mittens.  My mom used to knit ours every winter.  She always added extra long cuffs so the snow would not creep up our sleeves and freeze us.  So this mitten box speaks to my memories, and I just love it.   The box is very easy to assemble.  Just die cut mat board or chipboard , then die cut your designer papers and adhere.  The die comes with the mitten shape, the rickrack trim and some cute little hearts.

Make a bunch of these to use as place cards for your holiday celebrations.  They also make wonderful gifts for friends, neighbors and co-workers.  Authentique Paper’s new “A Magical Christmas” collection is absolutely stunning.  I’ve used the 6×6 pad to decorate my mittens and wrap the presents that are tucked inside. Once the treats are consumed, display candy canes, peppermints, or wrapped candy in the mitten box.  Or, use it as a pen holder on your desk.

Create a little tag insert with Eileen’s Gift Card Folder and Label Die.  It fits neatly inside the mitten box.  The dimensional envelope makes a great treat wallet, too.

I used to think Christmas in July was crazy, but now I realize that it takes time to create handmade gifts.  Starting in July makes me feel less rushed during the holiday season, too.  When do you start creating your Christmas crafts?
