Witches Halloween Ball Card Folio for the RRR Hop

Witches Halloween Ball Card Folio: Really Reasonable Ribbon and Authentique Nightfall

Hello, Friends!   Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon September Blog Hop. You should be coming here from Karen’s lovely blog.

Don’t you just love it when you find the perfect ribbon and paper combination?  That’s what inspired this whimsical Witches Halloween Ball Card Folio that I have to share with you today.  I conjured it up using the Fab-BOO-luss Really Reasonable Ribbon September Ribbon Club Assortment and the Spook-tacular Authentique Nightfall Collection.

Look at this sassy little witch all dressed up in her Halloween Ballgown.  She’s ready to tear up the dance floor!  This is a 5 1/4″ x 8″ card folio with a 1/2″ spine.  I’ve dressed this mixed media project up with scrumptious Apple Green Satin Swirl and Tangerine Satin Swirl double bow.  Halloween Confetti Dot Grosgrain Ribbon and Spiderweb Satin Ribbon add texture, color and pattern to the overall design.  Here’s a peek at all the beautiful ribbons in this month’s assortment.

Witches’ Halloween Ball Card Folio:  It’s All About the Dress!

The focal image on this folio is a combination of fussy cut images, an altered rosette and some really cute witch legs!  The original stockings were red and gray, so I had to paint the stripes with Carved Pumpkin Distress Paint.   Here’s how I made the rosette ball gown:

  • First, Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper.
  • Next, punch a 1″ circle from scraps.
  • Then place the long side of the paper on your scoreboard and score every 1/4″.
  • Next, accordion fold all the scored lines, then glue the ends together.
  • Place a dime sized puddle of hot glue on a non-stick craft sheet or other non-porous surface.
  • Now, with the top of the rosette gathered together, push down into the puddle of glue. Be careful not to touch the hot glue as it is, well…HOT!
  • The glued ends will split apart.  This is OK!
  • Now, quickly add a dab of glue to the top of the rosette and hold down the punched circle until the glue sets.
  • Carefully trim off the torn ends where the rosette split apart.  Now you just have to position the “skirt” of your ballgown on your card.  I added dimensionals to the back side of my fussy cut witch so that the heights of the rosette and the image would match up.
Witches Halloween Ball Card Folio: Creating the Sentiment

Mat the Great Pumpkin 3″ x 4″ card on designer paper.  Then die cut it with a circle die.  Back with foam dimensionals or waste chipboard and adhere as seen.  The designer paper on the back side of the sentiment makes for a neat look on the card interior.  The witch’s “bouquet” is made with some old Petaloo flowers that I had in my stash and Natural Burlap String.

Witches Halloween Ball Card Folio: A Peek Inside

I’ve loaded up the inside of this folio with pockets, inserts, a waterfall, and a hidden journaling spot.

The side pocket holds two cute little tab topped inserts made from table scraps.  Each has a magnetic closure and is filled with images cut from the 6″ x 6″ collection.

There is so much to love about these Boo-tiful little cards!  First of all, you can make using your scraps, which always makes me happy.  Then, you can make these 4.25″ x 5.5″ paper pretties in a jiffy, because the “recipe” for each card is really similar.  Next, each card has a super easy to make gift card holder inside.  Finally, you have to take a look at the cute factor!  Has Halloween ever been cuter?   Let’s take a closer look at each card, then we’ll dive into the Snapguide tutorial below.

This sweet little witch is too cute to spook, so I’m putting her down in the “good witch” column!  I’ve dressed up this card with Tangerine Swirl Satin Ribbon and Natural Burlap String.  And I love the border of Halloween Confetti Grosgrain Ribbon for the pop of color it adds to the design.

I love to add ribbon to the interior of my cards, too.  Black Spiderweb Satin Ribbon adds a touch of class to the gift card holder inside this cute card.

While this witch isn’t quite as adorable as our first card model, she’s still pretty fun.  And how bad can she be with that cutie pie owl by her side?  I’ve paired up more Tangerine Satin Swirl Ribbon with 3/8″ Black Checkerboard Satin Ribbon on this card for a perfect match!

You’ll find 3/8″ Black Checkerboard Satin Ribbon inside this card as well.  The black cat gives it the seal of approval.

This is the cutest image with that little ghoul peeking out of her costume!  To go with the dotty background, I selected Halloween Confetti Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.

And the cute couple inside this card are black tie ready with a bit of Black Checkerboard Satin Ribbon.  By the way, while I’m thinking of it, all the small images on the treat bags and in the small frame are from the Nightfall 6×6 Paper Bundle.

You get everything you need to make this project in the kit, except for basic supplies like adhesives, black paint and tools.  Even the chipboard covers and black cardstock come in the kit.  This means that when your kit arrives, you can dig in and start creating.  The base is a high quality wooden cigar box.    My thought for this kit was to create a home decor piece that would last for years to come.

The top of the box is a fun easel card design.  Open it for display, then close it when it’s time to pack away after the ghosts and ghouls have gone back into hiding.
