Chalkboard Winter Wonderland for Heartfelt Creations Wednesday

Good Wednesday morning, Friends!  I’m happy to welcome you to Heartfelt Creations Wednesday once again. Today I have a really fun Chalkboard Winter Wonderland card to share with you.  I’m going back to an “oldie but a goodie” set this week.  The stamped images and papers are from the delightful Gateway to the Seasons stamp collection.  I’ve chosen to work with the very detailed Winter Season PreCut set .  This card is so quick and easy to make, yet provides a huge visual impact. It would be a great design to use for making multiple cards for Christmas.  A complete supply list and detailed instructions can be found today on the Heartfelt Creations blog.  You will also have the opportunity to see work from the new members of our design team.  I’ve had a little sneak peek of their creations, and I assure you, there are some absolutely stunning creations in store for you.  So pop over to the blog, say hello to the new designers, welcome back to the returning designers and get your weekly dose of crafting inspiration!

Heartfelt Creations Chalkboard Christmas 05  This 6″ x 6″ top fold card is such a lot of fun to make. I think I had it done from concept to completion in under an hour.  That includes the time it took for me to pull out all my supplies, too!

Heartfelt Creations Chalkboard Christmas 03  I get the best results for chalkboard technique when I use a pigmented white ink to stamp and then heat emboss with a super fine white embossing powder.  I always tap my embossing buddy over the paper first to reduce the chance of stray embossing crystals ending up where I don’t want them.

Heartfelt Creations Chalkboard Christmas 02  Once I’m done stamping, I lightly dab a little of the white ink onto the pad of my finger and just sort of dab it around to create that “erased” chalkboard look.  For this image, it also added to the snowy fields.

Heartfelt Creations Chalkboard Christmas 04 I get really excited when simple techniques yield big results.  I love the way this image just pops off the page!

Heartfelt Creations Chalkboard Christmas 07  I kept the inside very simple, choosing a journaling tag from the cut apart pages of the marvelous Christmas Card Collection to serve as my sentiment.

Have you played much with the chalkboard technique?  What discoveries have you made along the way?  I’d love it if you shared them with me here.  Thanks for stopping by today, and thanks again for all your kind comments!  They make me happy, right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers.  Until next time,

Cheerio,

kathy

Heartfelt Creations Product Used:  HCPC3543 Winter Season PreCut Set; HCDP1 234 Daphne Paper Collection

Other Product Used:  INKS: Colorbox Pigment Archival Ink/Frost White, Versamark; PAPER: Core’dinations Core Impressions MME Lost and Found Color Core Cardstock/Charming Stripe, Black Cardstock, Naturals White Cardstock; Gold Glitter Paper; DIES: Spellbinder’s Labels 1 die; EMBOSSING POWDER: Zing Gold Embossing Powder; Ranger Superfine white Embossing powder; OTHER: Gold crochet thread

DIRECTIONS:

Create a 5 ¾”x5 ¾” square card base from naturals cardstock.  Set aside.  Use the White Frost ink to stamp the house image onto the black cardstock.  Sprinkle with white embossing powder.  Tap off excess.  Heat set.  Use a ruler to tear around the edges of the image.  Brush edges with Versamark, sprinkle with gold embossing powder.  Tap off excess.  Heat set.  Mat with 4 ½”X 4 ½” square of gold glitter paper and mat onto black cardstock, leaving a 1/8” margin all the way around.  Mat onto a 5”x5” square of the holiday paper from the Daphne collection.  Cut a 6”x6” square of the Core’dinations cardstock.  Trim around the fancy edges to achieve the shape shown.  Trim just the fancy edges and piece onto the right and top sides of the card.  Secure with tape on the backside.  If you line it up correctly, you will not see any seams except at the top.  This will be covered by the crochet thread.

Sand lightly around the edges of the Core’dinations cardstock to reveal the red core beneath.  Tie the crochet thread around the top edge.  Add a bow .  Glue onto the 6×6” card base.

Stamp the sentiment onto black cardstock and emboss as you did above.  Die cut from cardstock using the smallest label found in the Labels 1 collection.  Mat onto gold glitter cardstock and trim around the edges.  Secure to the left hand side of the card base using foam tape.

Lightly tap your finger into the white frost ink and gently tap and smudge it over the snowy areas of the card design.  Finish the inside of the card as desired.
