Good Monday morning, my friends! I hope you enjoyed a restful and restorative weekend. The weather here in North Carolina suddenly turned very cold and windy, which put me in the mood to create this Christmas Joy card with Crafty Secrets.
The sweet little holly frame background is from the CD. I just copied it, pasted into Word and then sized it to 4″ x 6″. Once it was printed onto white cardstock, I stamped the background with the snowflake stamp using Versamark and heat embossing with glitter embossing powder.
These fun retro ornaments were stamped in Vermillion and Library Green Archival ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The basic ornaments are “naked” and you get to choose from several different elements and sentiments to stamp into the center. I stamped with Frost White pigment ink from Color Box, heat embossed to set the ink and then I tapped the whole ornament with Versamark and heat embossed again with UTEE. This gave them a shiny, glassy look, just like real ornaments. Fun, right?
A festive red bow and some stick pins were added to the top left corner. Just for fun… LOL I also strung gold and white crochet thread through the ornament tops and twisted it as I added it to the card. I was just playing…having fun and not stressing too much about making things perfect, but when all was said and done, I was really happy with the results.
These precious little birds really made me smile. I stamped them in black Archival ink, heat embossed and then colored in with Distress Markers and a detail waterbrush. I coated them with Glossy Accents to give them some shine and dimension. The sentiment is also stamped in black Archival ink, heat embossed and free hand cut into a shape I liked. I backed it with a bit of glossy teal cardstock. I mean, it’s Christmas, people…shine, glitter, bling…it’s open season!
The interior is lined with some red and kraft striped paper I had in my stash. I stamped another red ornament and cut out a bit of a journal tag from one of my Crafty Secrets Christmas booklets. These are all on sale right now. I need to stock up because I use them all the time! The stamp set is also on sale, and if you want the Retro Christmas collection, it’s also available as a download. There are so many darling templates, papers, 3-D art pieces and everything you need to make wonderful retro Christmas cards like this one.
I was having so much fun, I even decorated the envelope. The back flap is covered and the inside is lined with this same red/kraft striped paper. So cute together!
So, I’m curious…have you started your Christmas cards yet? Usually I’m all done by now, but Dale’s hospital stay earlier this month cut my Christmas card creating time waaaaay down and I have very little made right now. I hope to work on that over the next few days…and maybe I can actually get some cards out this year. I really like sending cards through the mail. It’s such a treat to get something in the mailbox that’s not junk or a bill!
OK…that’s it for me today. I’ll try to pop back in soon with another card. Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for leaving your comments…I read each and every one of them because your comments make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers. Until next time,
