Hello, Friends! I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with my Crafty Secrets Vintage CD’s. I had kind of forgotten about them until earlier this month when I pulled them out just to refresh my memory of what they contain. Well, let me tell you….they are jam packed with beautiful papers, images, ephemera and creative ideas. I know I’ve shared several projects with you that I’ve made with these this summer. Today, I used Creating with Vintage Patterns CD 1 and Creating with Vintage Illustrations CD2 to make this card.
I think this image is absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to add a sentiment to the paint palette, and I decided on “Create a Life that is as Beautiful as Your Dreams.” Once I had my image sized the way I wanted it, I just used the type tool to add the sentiment. Then, I used my color changer tool to make it dark brown. It was really easy! All I had to do was print it out, and there was my sentiment, perfectly placed, in the font I wanted to use, in the color I selected. I confess, I got a little giddy with excitement at how well this worked. I printed it out on nubbly watercolor paper because I wanted it to have a sort of canvas texture. It’s hard to pick up with the camera, but in real life…it’s very cool!
The image was torn from the paper, then inked with Vintage Photo Distress ink. I then tapped it with Viva Decor Copper 3D Stamp Paint. This added a subtle sheen and another layer of texture to the image. The title is from the old Renaissance Alphabet Booklet and the little paintbrushes are from the French Labels Heartwarming Vintage Stickers. I also added a lot of copper embossing around the edges of the card. My ribbon is Really Reasonable Ribbon’s Variegated Copper Silk.
Do you see the pretty patterned paper behind the printed image? I found a pattern I loved on the Creating with Vintage Patterns CD, but it was too green. So I put my brave boots on and played around with the color changer tool until I had it the exact shade of blue grey that I wanted. I was soooooo excited with the way this turned out, and I realized I have endless options for creating my own custom paper this way. Here’s a better look at it on the inside of the card.
That’s all for me today, friends! Thanks for stopping by. May the life you live be as beautiful as your dreams!
