Dynamic Duos 65 and Mojo Monday 306

Good Tuesday morning, peeps!  Today I have another fun “Mojo Duo” card to share with you.  I am having such a good time combining the weekly Dynamic Duos color challenge with the current Mojo Monday sketch challenge that I decided to do it again.  This week’s Dynamic Duos color challenge is a lovely soft green paired with a warm pink.

Since I just did a major re-stocking of my Stampin’ Up cardstock, I had both Blushing Bride and Pistachio Pudding in my stash!  Hooray!

The Mojo Monday sketch this week is extra fun, especially when combined with these fab colors.  That Julee Tilman sure does draw a fabulous sketch, doesn’t she?

So without further ado, here’s my interpretation of Dynamic Duos 65 and Mojo Monday 306:

Dressed to impress

I wanted to incorporate some fun texture into this Mojo Duo so I ran a 5 x 6 1/2″ rectangle of Whisper White cardstock through an embossing folder.  Then, I noticed that the sketch seemed to show two colored panels in the background of the card.  What to do, what to do?  I wanted that yummy embossing to show so I didn’t want to cover it up with paper.  Can you guess what I did?  Yup.  Vellum to the rescue!  I colored my vellum by pressing the ink pads directly onto them, then used my fingers to spread the ink around.  I was amazed at how well it worked!  Then, I carefully glued the vellum panels down using Zip Dry glue, lined the whole panel up with the embossed pattern on the folder and ran it through my Spellbinder’s machine again.  Perfection!

Mojo Monday 307 08 Here you can see the pink vellum embossed over the white embossed panel.  It’s a really neat effect in real life.

Mojo Monday 307 04  Can you see the embossed green vellum at the base of the card?

Luscious Layers of Blushing Bride and Pistachio Pudding

I’m pretty happy with all these luscious layers of stitching, ribbon, roses and die cuts.   The focal image is from the Stampin’ Up “Thoughts and Prayers” set.  I used Distress Markers to color directly onto the stamp, “huffed” on it a few times and then stamped out this graceful bough.  Inking the stamp this way often yields a slight watercolor effect to the final product.

Mojo Monday 307 06I didn’t add any embellishments other than the ribbon.

The inside of the card carried over the shapes and colors from the front:

I lined the envelope…Mojo Monday 307 02

Mojo Monday 307 01.…covered the flap and stamped the lovely tree image from the stamp set onto the envelope front.

And that’s it for me today, friends.  I hope you will play along with Dynamic Duos 65 and Mojo Monday 306.  I love having a good sketch to work with on a Monday morning…it really helps to get the old creative juices flowing.  If you have any questions about today’s project, or if I can help you order any of the Stampin’ Up supplies I’ve used here, please don’t hesitate to ask.  I’m always more than happy to help a fellow paper addict…..I mean, crafter!  LOL  Thanks for all your lovely comments. They make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!

Until next time…

Cheerio,

kathy
