“Especially for You” Get Well Card

Heartfelt Creations August 3 01  As a busy crafter, I love it when a designer paper does all the heavy lifting for me.  That’s what the wonderful Delicate Asters Paper Collection did  in this Get Well card.  The graceful vase image is actually a corner treatment in the paper pad.  I simply stamped the asters again on watercolor paper, heat embossed, and colored them in.  Because I did not have the matching die, I had to fussy cut the images by hand.  (But the good news is that I treated myself to the die and more of the stamps for my birthday last week….Woo-hoo!)  I colored the flowers in with my Spectrum Noir pens, shaped them with the Paper Blossoms Molding Mat and Paper Blossoms Tool Kit.

Heartfelt Creations August 3 04  This created some nice dimension, but not so much that the card won’t fit in an envelope.  I really like the way this simple treatment added so much texture, color and dimension to the front of my card.

Heartfelt Creations August 3 03 I also incorporated some tinsel embossing powder and rhinestones to complete the blossoms. The sentiment was simply stamped, embossed and layered onto some flat lace.  I added some matching fibers and the front of the card was complete.

Heartfelt Creations August 3 05  For the interior of the card, I used a double-sided pattern from the collection, using the light side on the left panel, and the vibrant side on the right.  Both sentiments came from the cut apart pages of the collection, so again, the paper did most of the work!

I love the elegant flourish and soft colors of this paper collection. It's perfect for a Get Well card.

The sentiments in this collection were the perfect choice for my “Especially for You” Get Well card.

Heartfelt Creations August 3 07  I did do a little fussy cutting around the tags, and added some Stickles to make those pretty asters pop.  The sentiment panel was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Heartfelt Creations August 3 09  For me, no card is complete until I line the envelope….

Heartfelt Creations August 3 08….and cover the flap.  I also stamped in the front corner of the envelope so that the recipient would feel the love the minute they held the card in their hands.  This “Especially for You” Get Well card is simple but elegant, fairly quick to make and loaded with encouraging messages.  I honestly can’t wait to make another one, this time using the matching dies!  Those dimensional flowers just make me happy!

So what’s your preferred method for card prep?  Do you like to use papers that do most of the hard work for you, or do you prefer creating your own backgrounds and images with stamps?  I like having the option to do both, and with this lovely collection of stamps and dies, I can do just that.  Lucky me!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by the blog today.  I hope this “Especially for You” Get Well card got your creative juices flowing.  Be sure to visit the other designers for even more great ideas.  You can find links to their blogs in the side bar underneath the Heartfelt Creations banner.  If you have any questions about today’s project, please feel free to ask.  I respond to every comment left on my blog…because your comments make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!  Until next time,

Beautiful card, Kathy. I love the colors and the little gemstones really do make things pop. The flowers have the perfect amount of dimension so it can fit in a regular card. Definitely any recipient will feel the love and encouragement when they receive this card. Great work!

    Things I love:
The lace behind the “Especially for you”
The zig-zag stitching with multicolored purple thread
The rhinestone arrangements in the middle of the flowers!

Sometimes it’s great when the paper does everything for you, but I finding the “perfect” paper is often difficult for me. That’s when I make my own 🙂

Such a pretty card. The colors are gorgeous and your little paper blossoms are beautifully done. I love dimension but sometimes I get carried away and a card would not fit into an envelope. 🙂 You’ve managed to create a gorgeous dimensional card that WILL fit into an envelope. Love all of the coloring and the die cuts as well. <3 Candy
