“Especially for You” Get Well Card
As a busy crafter, I love it when a designer paper does all the heavy lifting for me. That’s what the wonderful Delicate Asters Paper Collection did in this Get Well card. The graceful vase image is actually a corner treatment in the paper pad. I simply stamped the asters again on watercolor paper, heat embossed, and colored them in. Because I did not have the matching die, I had to fussy cut the images by hand. (But the good news is that I treated myself to the die and more of the stamps for my birthday last week….Woo-hoo!) I colored the flowers in with my Spectrum Noir pens, shaped them with the Paper Blossoms Molding Mat and Paper Blossoms Tool Kit.
This created some nice dimension, but not so much that the card won’t fit in an envelope. I really like the way this simple treatment added so much texture, color and dimension to the front of my card.
I also incorporated some tinsel embossing powder and rhinestones to complete the blossoms. The sentiment was simply stamped, embossed and layered onto some flat lace. I added some matching fibers and the front of the card was complete.
For the interior of the card, I used a double-sided pattern from the collection, using the light side on the left panel, and the vibrant side on the right. Both sentiments came from the cut apart pages of the collection, so again, the paper did most of the work!
I did do a little fussy cutting around the tags, and added some Stickles to make those pretty asters pop. The sentiment panel was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.
….and cover the flap. I also stamped in the front corner of the envelope so that the recipient would feel the love the minute they held the card in their hands. This “Especially for You” Get Well card is simple but elegant, fairly quick to make and loaded with encouraging messages. I honestly can’t wait to make another one, this time using the matching dies! Those dimensional flowers just make me happy!
So what’s your preferred method for card prep? Do you like to use papers that do most of the hard work for you, or do you prefer creating your own backgrounds and images with stamps? I like having the option to do both, and with this lovely collection of stamps and dies, I can do just that. Lucky me!
