Graphic 45 Place in Time Garden Themed Birthday Card Tutorial

Graphic 45 Place in Time Garden Themed Birthday Card Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  It’s a big birthday month in the Clement household, so I’m filling up any spare minutes I can find making birthday cards.  I have a Graphic 45 Place in Time Garden Themed Birthday Card Tutorial to share with you today.  Our older daughter loves to garden.  It’s her therapy.  So I pulled out the August Cut Apart pages from my Place in Time Deluxe Collector’s Edition, some gorgeous Little Birdie Fall Flowers and Really Reasonable Ribbon and got my craft on!

This 5″ x 7″ top fold card folio has a 1/2″ spine that leaves lots of room for goodies on the inside.  Machine stitching, distressed edges, buttons and flowers lend it a sweet country feel.

This really is a very quick card to make.  I prepared a process video for you so that you can see how it came together and make one yourself.

These fall flowers from Little Birdie Crafts are so incredibly gorgeous!  I used blossoms and foliage from their Adelina, English Roses and Paulina Fall Colors assortment.   The Moss Green and Cream Plaid Ribbons work perfectly with this card design, too.

You’ll notice in the video that I did not add metal corners.  That was a last minute decision after the video had already been edited and uploaded.  I needed something in the lower left hand corner of the focal image to kind of frame and balance it.  The metal corners are tapped with Vintaj Patina ink (Moss and Verdigris).

This is a new way to make a pocket, and I am loving how quick and easy it is to make.  You will learn how in the video tutorial below.

I’ll also show you how to create this cutie patootie gift card holder from scraps.  It’s so easy, and looks adorable tucked into the pocket.

First, happy birthday to your daughter…and I know that she will love this card if she is a garden lover. Second, since I have this paper collection and have been waiting for the right project to come along, I’m delighted to see this birthday card. You’ve got me thinking outside the box of “calendars”. Now, this collection will be my “go to” when a birthday month rolls around. Thanks for sharing the card and the video tutorial. They both inspire me.

Another sweet card/folio! I’ll have to check out envelope.com – I get my long cardstock from Kathy at Paper Phenomenon – but I’m always looking for a bargain (did you just call me a cheapskate?!).
I have *so many* brass pressings, but I have trouble finding corners! Would you share where you get yours?! I used to have no problem, but for about a year they’ve become rarer than the proverbial hen’s teeth. Lots of fancy shapes and pendants, etc. But no corners!
Such a nice, easy-to-follow tutorial! If you make it so easy to make my own, it’s going to be hard for me to justify buying them! LOL LOL LOL
Enjoy your week! And, as always, thanks for sharing your skills and experience!

Thank you Kathy for the great tutorial…just the perfect template for a card I need to make and a special treat on a Monday. One question….where can we purchase Little Birdie flowers in the beautiful varieties you show? From what I can tell, their website only sells to retailers and bulk buyers and they are not available at our local craft store.
Looking forward to your next project!

Hi, Rebecca! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tutorial. It’s such a versatile card design that you can probably use it for all sorts of occasions with all kinds of papers. Right now, there are very few retailers in the US, but I am hoping that will change soon. I had quite a few varieties in my Etsy shop, and they sold fairly well. There are still a few left. I have not found these exact flowers on the LB website. They were sent to me to use as promotional items. I will check with my contact there and see what I can find out. I would actually love to have more of these myself. They are so gorgeous! If I find out anything hopeful, I will be sure to let you know!

Kathy, what a lovely card! I have two very special “gardener” friends, and a card like this would be perfect for their birthdays. I DO have that paper and now I have a wonderful idea what to do with it. I’m so happy to see your tutorials as I am “imagination challenged”. LOL You give me such great inspiration! Thank you again for another beautiful card and tutorial! Hugs
