To join in this celebration, I created a special Heartfelt Creations Floral Key Mini Book. I used card fronts, die cuts and stamps from this beautiful collection and formatted them into an accordion mini book . Let’s take a peek:
The finished size of this mini book is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. The covers are made from chipboard, covered with cardstock and embellished with flowers, keys, locks and artwork from the collection.
The mini has a fun accordion fold design and can be opened out for display or stored closed. You can click on the photos for a larger view, and I will also share photos of each individual page with you here.
These Posy Patch stamps and dies make up into the prettiest little flowers ever! I simply stamped them onto kraft cardstock using Evergreen Bough Distress Ink, embossed with clear embossing powder and then painted them with Aged Mahogany, Festive Berries and Fired Brick Distress Ink. I just pressed my ink pad onto an acrylic stamping block and then used my detail water brush to apply the ink. Then I spritzed them with Perfect Pearls Copper Mist, die cut them with my Grand Calibur and shaped and layered them. I made a dozen sets to decorate this mini.
The cover is one of the card fronts, cut directly from the paper collection and then highlighted with Aged Mahogany ink. I used my craft knife to cut the sentiment out of the frame, and treated it with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder to give it a shiny, glassy appearance. Then it was matted onto teal cardstock and chipboard. I backed it with foam tape so that when I placed it back into the frame it would be dimensional. I ran the striped ribbon between the frame and the sentiment, then added a bow, some stick pins and a button and twine.
The inner pages use the same burgundy, teal and copper color palette.
All the little keys, locks and keyholes were first stamped with the Burnished Key Background PreCut Set. I stamped onto teal cardstock using Versamark ink, heat embossed with copper embossing powder and then die cut with the Burnished Key Die. The die cut pieces were then treated with Glossy Accents. This gave me a dozen different keys, 3 keyholes and one lock to use as embellishments in the mini. Talk about a time saver!
The next page features the large key hole stamped onto kraft paper, embossed with copper powder and embellished with a large key, a flower, and images from the paper collection. This is a photo of the two pages together:
The next page is also a card front. I used my detail water brush and Distress Inks to add more color to the images. The fact that all the images have a very neutral color palette gives you the option to choose whatever colors appeal to you the most. I was picking up on the colors from the striped background paper.
The facing page also started as a card front. I used my craft knife to carefully cut around the leaves and flowers so that I could tuck my stamped sentiment into the artwork. This is what these two pages look like side by side:
Here, I both colored in the images and added copper Stickles. A tag from the paper collection was also used as embellishment. I love that virtually everything you need to complete a project can be found in the paper collection!
The final page is hidden behind the beautiful Ornate Gateway die. I die cut the gates from glossy ivory Core’dinations cardstock and topped them with another of the die cut keyholes and a Posy Patch flower.
The gates open to reveal the stamped sentiment from A Prayer for the Day PreCut Set.
This is the last two pages, side by side.
This is such a lavish collection, with so many wonderful elements to play with. The hardest thing I had to do when creating my Heartfelt Creations Floral Key Mini Book was deciding which elements to use! I have more cards and altered items planned, and as soon as I am able to make them, I will share them with you here.
I hope you enjoyed this guided tour of my Floral Key Mini Book. Don’t forget to stop by the Heartfelt Creations blog to see all the wonderful creations by the rest of the design team. And, remember to leave a comment on the HC blog. You just might be the lucky winner of the entire collection. I read each and every comment and reply personally to each one…because your comments make me happy, right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers. Until next time,
