Heartfelt Creations and The Robin’s Nest Blog Hop

Good Wednesday morning, my friends!  Time for another dose of crafting inspiration with Heartfelt Creations Wednesday.  This week, we have a special treat for you as we are doing a blog hop with The Robin’s Nest.  I received some lovely goodies from them, but I was instantly drawn to the strong masculine images in the Regency Tag Kit.  These images coordinate perfectly with the color palette and style of the Antiquity paper collection from HC.  I combined these printed images with the Beautiful Juliet PreCut Set to create this 6″ x 6″ easel card:

The Antiquity card front was distressed and mounted on a square of black cardstock that had been embossed and sanded to add depth and texture to the project.

The fleur de lis corners are from the tag set.  I hand cut the little banners at the top of the card and used Forbidden Love Dew Drops in between.  Glossy Accents were added to the fleur de lis images.

I cut little fishtail banners and stacked them beneath the stamped and embossed sentiment.  This was layered on a larger burgundy fishtail banner and a bit of natural jute ribbon.  When you are not using a bow on a masculine card, that little bit of texture adds so much depth and visual interest.

Here’s the card, opened up easel style. The lion medallion is also from the tag kit.  Mounting it on foam dimensionals worked perfectly.

Here’s the interior of the card.  I used papers and the sentiment ticket from Heartfelt Creations, and the smaller tag is from The Robin’s nest.

Royal Birthday Wishes

I had so many images left over that I decided to create another simple masculine card.  Royal Birthday Wishes is also 6×6″ square with a top fold.

I used another card front from the Antiquity collection, stitched it onto gold foil paper and then added tags and embellisments to complete the card front.  This card is a true “quick and easy” number!  It only took me 30 minutes from start to finish, and that includes the time it took to gather the materials.  Every card maker needs a few cards like this in her stash!

I just love the shimmer the gold foil adds to this card.

I topped the “Royal” tag with a vintage brad that features a crown in the design.  I don’t usually add bows to my masculine cards, but I do use lots of natural fibers to finish them off.  This one was completed with a twine bow and a few more dew drops.

I stamped the sentiment onto artwork from the paper collection using a sentiment stamp from The Floral Key Collection.  It was perfect for this card.

That’s it for me today, friends.  Thanks for stopping in to to take a peek at these bold masculine cards.  It was fun combining materials from The Robin’s Nest with my favorite Heartfelt Creations papers.  You can find a complete supply list and detailed directions for today’s cards on the HC blog.  You’ll also find loads of inspirational ideas from the rest of the team.  You will find links to their blogs in my sidebar.  If you have any questions or comments about today’s projects, I’d love to hear from you.  It makes me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!

Kathy…your easel card is so pretty. I am ashamed to admit this but I am not sure I know how to make an easel card! Since I am not a cardmaker…I am pretty “remedial” when it comes to card patterns and construction. haha Your card is really a nice combination of colors and patterned papers, etc. It’s definitely very “regal”. 🙂 <3 Candy
