Just a quick post today. I wanted to share this fun vintage Valentine I made using Graphic 45’s A Place in Time collection. I think this might just be my all time favorite collection from them, as there are so many beautiful vintage images inside. This card was made from the February page. This umbrella lady is enjoying a walk in a shower of hearts. As soon as I saw it, I thought of the old tune, “It’s Rainin’ Men, Hallelujah” recorded by The Weather Girls. Remember that one? Now you’ll be singing it all day. No need to thank me; it was my pleasure!
Here she is in all her glory. I started with a kraft card base. Cutting a 5x 6 1/2 inch panel from a rich red paper in a subtle pattern (found in my scrap drawer) I stitched around the perimeter with a kraft colored thread. I tucked pieces of inked doily along the fold edge and adhered to the base. I inked up the umbrella lady with versamark and heat embossed the whole image using clear embossing powder. I love treating images this way. It adds a soft sheen to the papers, and makes them look almost leathery. This image was mounted on the same red paper used for the background. Then a fancy stitch was sewn all around the perimeter. I like the way the stitching turned out; it looks scalloped, and that is a very good thing. The edges were then lightly distressed.
Designer Tool Kit #3 from Paper Wishes was used to cut a panel out from a scrap of ABC Primer paper, also from Graphic 45. Stitching was added, and the edges were lightly distressed. This was mounted to the card base at an angle using dimensionals. I then tucked the sweet little February cut out behind this panel after inking the edges. A little fussy cutting, a free-hand heart adorned with Ruby Slipper Stickles, a little tag, a sweet heart button and this lady was ready for a trip to the post office! The inside was finished by stamping images from the Crafty Secrets “Cherish” set.I used the last little scrap of that red paper to finish off the inside. And of course, I had to line the envelope!
