Oh no! It’s 24 hours until Valentine’s Day, and you still haven’t made a card for your honey…or your son, or brother. And you don’t have a clue of what to make. No worries! If you have 20 minutes, I’ve created this totally fun, quick and easy Valentine tutorial. Just follow these simple directions and you’ll have a masculine Valentine that’s manly enough for any man. And, we’re off!
Got 20 Minutes? You can make this Valentine!
Start with a 5×7 kraft card base. Distress the edges with a distressing tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Cut a 4 3/4 by 6 3/4 panel from the DCWV Timeless Type 8×8 pad. Tear the right hand edge. Stitch around the perimeter..messy is good. Stamp “love” in Coffee Archival ink. Dust with clear embossing powder and heat set. Thread a button with twine and place it over the “o” in love. Using a section of the green clock page, cut out a heart. Spritz with water. Run it through a Stampin’ Up Texturz plate, Harlequin design. Lightly brayer Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the heart and cover with clear embossing powder. Use a small paint brush to carefully remove any embossing powder that’s lodged itself into the recessed areas of the design. Heat set. It should look like this:
Pop the heart up on dimensionals. Adhere a small compass (I had this one in my stash) or gear, or cog or other manly item onto the heart. Punch out 3 small dots from the green paper and adhere beside “love”. Ta-da! The front of the card is finished!
The Great Adventure…the inside of the card
Cut a 4 3/4x 6 3/4 panel of the map paper from the stack. Distress the edges pretty heavily and ink with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Using scraps from the bicycle page, hand letter the inside sentiment and cut into flag shapes. Tear some edges, and ink all the way around. I adhered every other banner with dimensionals, and the “adventure” banner was creased and popped up for extra dimension.
