“Nevermore” Mixed Media Card

Quoth the Raven: “Nevermore” Mixed Media Card for Craft Hoarders Anonymous

Hello, Friends!

There’s a new challenge up at Craft Hoarders Anonymous today.  Since Summer has just exited the scene and Fall is on center stage, this challenge appropriately titled: “Happy Fall.”  I’ve created a deliciously spooky “Nevermore” mixed media card as my inspiration piece.  It’s loaded with fun techniques, spook-tacular layers and a gorgeous digital image from our challenge sponsor, Polly’s Paper, which is owned and staffed by the one and only fabulously creative Ginny Nemchak (who also happens to be on the DT here at CHACB. )

One talented participant will win this fabulous prize package from Polly’s Paper!

Pollys prizeAdd a Little Dazzle also provided us with a wonderful assortment pack of metal art sheets that were wonderful to work with.  You’ll learn more about them in our next challenge!

Ginny provided the design team with an amazing  selection of digital images (which you can download from her ETSY shop.  Enabler alert: This shop is filled to the brim with gorgeous creativity kits, digital images, hand made cards, minis, banners. It’s one of my favorite places to shop online.  I selected one of the ravens from her fabulous “Nevermore” Halloween Digital Collage Printables.

CHACB Fall Challenge Glamour 06This is a 6″ square side fold card.  The papers are old, old, old…Bo Bunny, and it was a wedding collection, to boot!  I also dug into my stash of dies, and cut some black metal from Add a Little Dazzle using the Weathered Clock die from Tim.  I pulled out my hoard of embossing powders and mica flakes and added them to the clock.  I found a sheet of gold embossed paper that I’ve had for ages and colored it with distress inks, then die cut it with the Sun Kissed Fleur Die from Heartfelt Creations for the flowers.

CHACB Fall Challenge 05I think they are Spook-tacular!

I treated Ginny’s image with UTEE and sprinkled in some Mica flakes and Stampendous aged copper embossing powder.  I love the way it transformed the already fabulous image.

I had to create a custom envelope for this one, and here’s a peeky at that.

CHACB Fall Challenge 02

I have to confess, I’m pretty darn happy with my “Nevermore” mixed media card!

Here are the guidelines for Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #17: Happy Fall Y’all!

Many of us like to purchase NEW seasonal products every season.  What happens to last year’s Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving products?  We HOARD them! Drag out those hoarded fall themed items and make a project to share with us. You can make something for Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving or any other fall or harvest celebration.

You’ll want to link your NEW project up to the Craft Hoarder’s Anonymous BLOG before midnight PT on Sunday, October 19th.  I’ll be stopping by to take a look at your gorgeous creations.

Now, go get your crafty juices flowing by taking a look at the inspiration projects from the rest of the design team.  Oh, and we have a lovely new member on our team this time!  Join me in welcoming Wendi Hatter Robinson  from Scrappy Day in Paradise to the group!

Kathy, girl you SHOULD be proud of your Nevermore card! It’s awesome! What a great mix of mica, embossing powders, die cuts and papers to create this! Love your weathered clock! Way cool. Those flowers are also really pretty. Wedding paper??!? Seriously? You disguised it beautifully with your die cuts, embossing and so forth. Great job! Also…thanks so much for your always sweet comments on my blog. I so look forward to hearing from you. You pump me up! 🙂 <3 Candy

When you craft your hoard, you amaze me. I know I say it all the time, but you are so creative and so good with pairing techniques. This is just wonderful. I am sure that in person it just sparkles and glitters and is over the top stunning! I wish I could hold it in my hands!

Word defying project here! Who would not want to receive a card so beautiful and full of love and work and thought and creativity as this??? I am definitely inspired by your work, and this is just a blessing to see! The transformation of everything you put on this card is nothing short of amazing!

I just had to pop over from the Craft Hoarders site to tell you how stunning your project is. Such amazing details and layering–love the flowers and clock die. Such an inspiring work of art! Helene

Kathy! An envelope! You would be able to give this beauty away?! (Just give them the envelope. It’s wonderful all by itself.)

I love all the different items from your treasure trove. That metallic clock die cut, behind the glittered crow, is the bee’s knees, and the many textures, from smooth and hard, to matte and granular, are a blooming fest for the eyes.

Just a side note to let you know what a wonderful job you did filling in at Crafty Secrets for the month Sandy was away. It looks so easy when you just read it, but it takes so much care and time. Sandy was a lucky gal to have you to call on.

Once again, thanks for sharing your special talents and your big heart.
