Paper Crafts Stamp It! 3-Ways Challenge

Happy First Day of February. It’s a brisk, sunny day here in North Carolina. Even thought it’s cold, I’m not complaining, because there’s sunshine….and we haven’t had a lot of that this winter. And, my back yard is full of hundreds of robins…so Spring cannot be far behind. It’s so beautiful out that I felt inspired to enter my first challenge for the month of February. And it’s a doozie! Paper Crafts Magazine issued a “Stamp it 3 ways” challenge this week. (Check it out: Use the same stamp set in three different ways. Oh, yeah, baby!

I chose the same fun set I used in my last post: 001 (2) This sweet little set is from Stampin’ Up, and I dearly love it. I think it was called Good Friends, and is now retired. It was the perfect vehicle for this fun challenge. Here’s what I came up with:015 (2)

For the first card, I decided to emboss the bird image, easy peasy:006 (2) I lined the envelope with complimentary paper and finished the inside like this: 004 (2).

The second card was a ton of fun to make. I stamped one of the background images from the set onto a piece of plain cardstock using Colorbox Lime Pastel chalk ink. I heat set the image with clear embossing powder. I then employed one of my favorite distress techniques, wrinkle free distress. I used Picked Raspberries and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks to get the color combo. I stamped the sentiment on plain paper, heat embossed it and colored it in with Distress markers. The little bingo card is from Simple Stories (Fabulous). The bird was paper pieced using another paper from that same collection. Stitching, rhinestones and some little touches here and there. Voila! Second technique finished. 014 (2)

Here’s a photo of the inside, and a close-up of the cute paper pieced bird: 012 (2)

The third technique was really fun. I’ll show you the card, then explain how I did it: 007 (2) See the two birds, one facing each direction? Well, the original stamp only faces one way, but I wanted “love birds”. To achieve this, I stamped the pink bird onto double sided cardstock, then flipped it over. Ta-da! A bird facing the right hand side of the card. I stamped its mate, added beaks and tailfeathers and had wrote the sentiment. I think this is my favorite of the three cards.010 (2)

008 (2)

So, how about you? Do you have a stamp set gathering dust somewhere? Why not pull it out and challenge yourself to use it in three different ways? Go ahead, I double-dog dare you!

Thanks so much for reading my little blog. It means so much to me when you leave me a comment, and I try to reply to each and every one. I hope you all have a great Super Bowl weekend, and find some time to spend with paper, stamps and ink!

All 3 cards are so sweet and would delight anyone lucky enough to be the recipient of one. I especially like how clever you were on the love birds one, though. Love the color combinations on all 3 and the piecing on the 2nd one. Wish I had your creative talents, Sis!

Wow, what awesome cards! Such detail, and I can tell that love and joy went into the making of each one! I love them all and how you finished the insides beautifully and even made coordinating envelopes! My favorite? Although I do love your love birds, I’m totally enamored with the background you created for the 2nd card and it’s wonderful details!!
