12 Days of Christmas Hostess Gift Ensemble

Hello Ribbon Lovers!  It’s time for the Really Reasonable Ribbon December Blog Hop!

Today I’m tempted to start my post with a curtsey as I greet Mr. Darcy at the Christmas ball.  True confession time: I’m a huge Jane Austen fan!  My all time favorite Austen work is Pride and Prejudice, that glorious love story between Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennett.  Are you familiar with it?  I love the PBS version starring Colin Firth.  Oh, the dancing, the ball gowns, the courting rituals…Be still my heart.  I’ve paired these images from Graphic 45’s Twelve Days of Christmas with this totally scrumptious ribbon from RRR:

Don’t these winter blues and whites just make your heart go pitty pat?

If you came here from the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog you are right on track.  If you get lost along the way, I’ve included a list of links to all the other designer’s blogs below.

So, here’s the drill for the hop:  Visit each of the links below and leave some bloggy love for each of the fabby RRR designers, then go back to the RRR blog and answer Bonnie’s question of the month.  Why?  Because if you do, you might just win this entire ribbon collection! But enough chatter…let’s get hopping!

The holidays are filled with so many parties, dinners and gift exchanges that it’s nice to have a little stash of small hostess gifts on hands. This gift ensemble is quick to put together, which is always a plus.  I created a 3.75″ x 8.5″ shopping list wallet.  The cover is adorned with gorgeous ribbons from the Winter Blues Mix. I chose the Satin Swiss Dots and the Rachel White Crochet Lace to adorn the cover of my shopping list wallet.  I also added a fluffy bow treatment at the top of the wallet and topped it off with one of the gorgeous 25mm Cottage Roses that Bonnie carries in the online store.

The ribbon closure is adorned with a brad, jute string and crocheted doily. I fussy cut Lizzy Bennett from the paper pad and popped her up on foam tape.  Her dress was treated to some Star Dust Stickles.  I’m not sure if you can see it here, but in real life, her dress twinkles!

The wallet opens to reveal a magnetic memo pad and two pocket compartments for coupons or recipes.  You can keep everything neat and tidy…Mr. Darcy would approve!

And Miss Bennett would love it for it’s beauty and style.

The wallet is made with one sheet of 12×12 cardstock.  Trim one side to 11.75″ and then score that side at 3 3/4″, 4″, 7 3/4″ and 8″.  Turn the paper 90 degrees and score again at 8 1/2″.  Use a bone folder to crease all the score lines and then fold the bottom flap up, the right flap in and finally the left flap in.  Open the wallet up and use 1/8″ wide Scor Tape to secure the pockets.  All you have to do now is add the memo pad and decorate.  Easy Peasy!

The accompanying card is made from the same collection.  I backed the cardstock flowers with two of the white ribbons from the Winter Carnival Mix.  This was simple to do.  I cut 4″ lengths of both ribbons.  I hot glued one end into the center of the flower, looped the ribbon back on itself and hot glued the loose end down.  I just did this all the way around the flower, then added a bit of chipboard with more jute string to finish it off.

I too, love Pride and Prejudice, however, I’ve never seen the PBS movie for it. Would love to though.
Your cards are fabulous and yes, I’d love to curtsy and dance with Mr. Darcy as well.
