Snowy Greetings Interactive Card

Heartfelt Creations September 2013 02Snowy Greetings Interactive Card

Hello, Friends!  How’s your week going so far? We’ve been enjoying gorgeous weather here in North Carolina…a hint of fall, bright sunshine and clear blue skies have really invigorated me.  Of course, all this lovely fall weather means that the holidays will soon be here.  With that in mind, I’m popping in to share the other card I made for Heartfelt Creations this week.  My Snowy Greetings Interactive card uses papers from the  Frosty Blanket Paper Collection. Detailed instructions and a complete list of supplies can be found on the Heartfelt Creations blog.

Heartfelt Creations September 2013 01  This snowy scene reminds me of growing up in rural Vermont.  When you are a kid, you don’t mind the long cold winters, because all that snow makes for wonderful sledding!  We lived at the top of a long, steep dirt road, and when it became blanketed with snow, every kid in the neighborhood could be found, sled in tow, racing down that hill.  We had an extra long sled, and one of us would sit in the front and steer the sled with her feet while the other person sat behind and wrapped her arms around the person in front, hanging on for dear life.  There were bumps and curves along the way, which made for wonderful fun.  We especially loved sledding at night, under the moon and stars with only our porch light and one small street lamp for illumination.  Oh, those were good times, let me tell you!

Heartfelt Creations September 2013 04  As you can see, I did some fussy cutting and layering to add dimension to this card.  I also broke out my Diamond Stickles to add shimmer and shine to the snowy parts of this card.  But the most fun feature of this 6×6 card is this:

Heartfelt Creations September 2013 05  The front door opens to reveal a holiday message.  How fun is that? I used the wonderfully versatile All Seasons Sentiments PreCut set to piece the greeting together.  This is such a fun set.  It makes me think of those little tiny word magnets that people use to write poetry on their refrigerators.

Heartfelt Creations September 2013 06  The card opens  to reveal a stamped sentiment from the Sweet Memories PreCut Set.

Heartfelt Creations September 2013 03 Although I’m very glad that I no longer live in the land of snow and ice, I’m also very thankful for having had the opportunity to live in New England during those beautiful winters of my childhood.  This Snowy Greetings Interactive Card brought back so many wonderful memories for me…and I hope it did the same for you.  Did you grow up having White Christmases?  I’d love to know.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by the blog today…and thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.  Your comments make me happy, right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers.  Until next time…

Beautiful card that makes it fun to remember sledding on good old Barclay Rd! Fond memories of carefree days. Love this card. You are so creative and make such beautiful art!

Another beautiful card and story, Kathy! Love your fussy cutting and dimension and your interactive door is marvelous! And what a perfect use of the sentiment stamp. Love your snowy memories! Sledding was the best-it was pretty good in Chicago, but you make your sledding days sound like Currier and Ives!

Loved reading about the sledding you did when you were a kid! Growing up ‘next door’ in N.H., we did the very same thing!! The card is gorgeous…makes me want just one more snowy Christmas! You’ll find me sledding somewhere 🙂

How does one purchase items from you? This is beautiful and did I ever grow up having white Christmases – and still do (often much to my dismay!) Looking at your work always begins my day, thank you!
