Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight Mojo

Mojo Monday 305 and Dynamic Duos 64

Good Tuesday morning, friends!  I’m slipping in for a quick post today to share my take on this week’s Mojo Monday and Dynamic Duos challenges.  I fell in love with both the sketch and the color challenge this week, but didn’t have time to play in both, so I combined them into a Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight Mojo card.

I would never think of putting these two colors together, and that is what makes a color challenge so much fun.  When I combined my Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight I fell in love!

007 (2) The Mojo sketch was a challenge for me this week, though.  It’s a beautiful sketch, but for some reason, I just couldn’t get my head around it…until I turned it on its side, and suddenly I knew just what to do.    I added a simple white embossed background, matted each panel, stitched around them and it all came together with no more fuss.

006 (2)  I cut a shaped edge on the bottom because I wanted that Daffodil Delight to peek out from the inside of the card.  This is a really old piece of Stampin’ Up paper that I found in my stash, but it was the right color, so I was happy, happy!  I added a piece of acetate I had in my stash as well.  The butterflies are made with a Martha Stewart punch that I have in my stash.  I found some Prima posies, and a nice piece of silk ribbon that was just the right shade.  Lucky day!

008 (2)  This card has lots and lots of layers and dimension….

010 (2)….so I knew a standard envelope would never handle the height of the flower, and you probably know what I did to solve that problem…

001 (2)  Yep….I created a custom box.  If you missed yesterday’s post, I have a detailed tutorial on how to make these fun containers for the more dimensional card.

My Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight Mojo card fits perfectly into its matching box!

I kept the inside of the card very simple, mainly because it was time for me to get busy in the kitchen and fix dinner for Dale!  LOL  (Remind me to share my zucchini casserole recipe with you sometime…it is the yummiest summer supper ever…but I digress…)

And that’s it for me today, folks!  I hope you enjoyed this cheery little Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight Mojo card adventure with me.  Do you ever use these colors together?  Do you like the color combination?  Please let me know what you think.  And if you have any questions, feel free to ask.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by the blog today, and thanks for all your kind comments…they make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers.  Until next time…

Cheerio,

kathy

Great idea on the design – love the direction you took it in. I would not think of putting these colors together, but clearly should, because the result is a very lovely card and box! So very pretty. I love all the little details and love that you let the daffodil delight from inside the card peek out along the bottom edge. Very creative and very well done. So pretty!

So pretty!!!! Love it. Your interpretation of the sketch is wonderful…especially when you turned it on it’s side. The color combination is gorgeous. Love the layered die cuts and the stitching really finishes it off nicely. That bow and flower …. lovely! <3 Candy

The yellow and deep pink are beautiful together. How I enjoy the texture of the flowers that just sit there waiting for you to touch their softness. This card just says ‘happy’ for some reason perhaps the added warmth of yellow? Love the box and the black dot detail. Like the finishing touches on a fine dessert. And that casserole recipe!? Yes please! I think you need a separate blog called Kathy’s Kitchen:0)

I love these colors together, although I don’t know that I would have ever thought to put them together. Also just love your take on the sketch! Hope your week is going well!
