Summer Dragonfly Card
Hello, Friends! Summer is in full force here in North Carolina. As evening falls, the twinkling light of fireflies lends its own special Southern magic to the season. And during the day, graceful dragonflies dip in and out of the swimming pool, their wings sparkling in the hot afternoon sun. There’s something about dragonflies that fills my heart with delight, so when I saw this beautiful image in the Digital Summer Printables from Crafty Secrets I knew I had to make this summer dragonfly card.
I love the way these colors work perfectly with the digital blue paisley and stripe double sided papers. I created a 5″ x 7″ top fold card, used a Spellbinders die to cut a decorative edge and then created layers of paper, painted corrugated cardboard, white burlap and my inked image. I added some small marble tiles and tiny little gold dragonfly charm along with a rustic bow tied with turquoise stitched burlap ribbon from RRR. A sparkly turquoise button adds the finishing touch. I love the simplicity of this card…the way it lets the image shine, and the peaceful feeling the color palette evokes. Here’s a look at the card and the matching envelope.
And here’s a peeky at the inside of the card:
The sentiment reads: Sweet memories are rare jewel which time polishes into perfection. That’s what I think we all love so much about summer; it brings back all those wonderful memories from our childhood: lazy hours at the pool, catching fireflies in jars, swinging in the hammock. We didn’t know it, but we were living like kings and queens! I’d love to hear your favorite summer memories! Will you share them with me in comment section below? I have to say creating this summer dragonfly card made me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!
