Sun Kissed Altered Dresser for Heartfelt Creations Wednesday
Hello, Friends! It’s Heartfelt Creations Wednesday, and that means I get to share more HC inspiration with you here on the blog. Today I have a fun Sun Kissed altered dresser with a hidden pocket and tag. Sound like fun? Let’s dig in!
I started with a “naked” little wooden dresser that I found in a clearance basket at Tuesday Morning. I wanted to dress it up and give it a French shabby chic feel. I sanded, painted with Stormy Skies Distress paint, Vintage Photo Crackle Paint and a final coat of Antique Linen Distress paint with sanding in between the layers to give it that worn vintage finish we all love so much. I only painted the edges, as I planned to cover the dresser with paper from the Sun Kissed Paper Collection.
Edges of the paper were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and glued on with Aleene’s Tacky Glue. I even covered the insides of the drawers:
I used a hand drill to make holes for these fancy shank buttons, which make the perfect drawer pulls.
I wanted to dress up the top with something that felt like a doily. The Decorative Lace Die was the perfect size and choice.
I stamped, embossed and die cut a gazillion Sun Kissed Fleur posies, using both the striped and the regular Sun Kissed Fleur stamps. These were brushed with Scattered Straw and Antique Linen Distress Ink and sprinkled with glitter.
I also die cut leaves from the Gift Ensemble Die and stamped and die cut holly leaves from the Ornamental Add On Die. I like the delicate look of these leaves, and you can just snip the holly “prickles” off if you don’t want them to look like holly. I added yellow rhinestones over the spots where the berries would be located.
The back side of the dresser is also decorated. I created a hidden pocket that holds this tag:
Both sides of the tag contain hand written sentiments. I used the Layered Scalloped Posy Die to create the topper for my tag.
The tag can be used as a bookmark or wall hanging. This is what the dresser looks like without the tag in the pocket. The little drawers are the perfect spot to store hand made flowers, buttons, or other trinkets.
So, that’s it for me today, folks! Be sure to visit all the other gals on the team.
