Sunny Day Tri Fold Card with Tutorial
Hello Friends! Happy May 1st! I’m just popping in to share the second project I made for Heartfelt Creations this week. My Sunny Day Tri Fold card is the perfect way to celebrate May Day. The sunny yellow tones mixed with the bright blue accents really make for a very cheery card. I have a complete list of supplies and detailed tutorial at the end of this post.
I love, love, love the cheeky little bird from Feathered Friends. I’ve stamped him, watercolored him with Distress Markers and a detail waterbrush, then coated him with Glossy Accents to make him stand out in the middle of the beautiful Vintage Floret Frame that I’ve stamped ,die cut and water colored. The yellow panel is embossed, distressed and dry brushed with white acrylic paint. I’ve also added some dry brushing to the blue background. The gorgeous ribbon is Lemon Delicate Stitched Satin from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I’ve added lots of color to the Sunny Day paper collection with Distress Inks.
I dug into my dwindling hoard of Sun Kissed paper to create a custom envelope for the card.
That’s it for me today, friends! Do you do anything special to celebrate May Day? I’d love to hear about it in the comments section. Or if you have any questions about the details on this Sunny Day tri fold card tutorial, feel free to ask. Sharing tips and techniques with you makes me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!

Glue the 1/2″ section to the back side of the blue card base. This creates the tri-fold card. Punch a decorative border along the outer edge of the yellow card panel. Crop corners with the Crop-A-Dile. Dry brush edges with white acrylic paint and sponge with Pumice Stone.
Cut a 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ panel of yellow cardstock and emboss with the folder. Distress the edges, ink with Pumice Stone and dry brush with white acrylic paint. Stamp the Vintage Floret Frame with Pumice Stone and Die cut with coordinating die. Sponge the edges with Pumice Stone. Use detail water brush and Distress Markers to color the leaves and flowers. Use Diamond Stickles on the vines.
Stamp the bird image from Feathered Friends in Pumice Stone and heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Color with Distress Markers. Use fingers to shape the flower petals. Use Diamond Stickles on the flower petals. Add rhinestones. Cover the bird with Glossy Accents and set aside to dry.
Paint the metal corners with white acrylic paint and set aside to dry.
Use foam dots to secure the frame to the yellow embossed panel. Use a double layer of foam dots to secure the stamped bird. Add crochet lace to the bottom and then glue onto the card front. Add the metal corners with Zip Dry Glue. Add the bow and button.
Stamp the sentiment from Beautiful you onto paper from the collection. Die cut with the oval tag from Luggage and Tags set. Sponge one tag with Broken China and the other with Mustard Seed. Tie to the frame with white twine. Add a twine bow, button and rhinestone. Add rhinestones to the frame.
Decorate with more papers from Sunny Day, ribbon and ink.
