Sweet Lullaby Baby Shower Umbrella Card Tutorial

Heartfelt Shower Card 06Sweet Lullaby Baby Shower Umbrella Card Tutorial

Hello again, friends!  I’m back as promised to share my Sweet Lullaby Baby Shower Umbrella card tutorial.  I used the baby carriage die to create the umbrella, and it was so easy to do!

Heartfelt Shower Card 02a

I have a complete list of supplies and a detailed description of how I made this card below. The blocks were cut out from the fabulous Sweet Lullaby Background PreCut set.  I love the lacy flower dies and the precious booties, too.  All I really added to this card was a bow made from delicate stitched satin ribbon and a few little trims. Here’s a peeky at the inside:

I did make a custom envelope to match:

I love it when I die can be used in many different ways!  It makes me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers!

Cheerio,

kathy

Other Products: Glossy White cardstock, plain white and teal cardstock; Evergreen Bough, Worn Lipstick Distress Ink; Ranger Chrome Yellow and French Ultramarine Archival Ink, Versamark Embossing Ink; Wow Neutral Shimmer Embossing Powder, clear embossing powder; Ribbon, buttons, glue gun, foam dots, Aleene’sTacky Glue, foam adhesive.

Directions: Create a 5″ x 7″ side fold card base from white cardstock. Cut the pastel frame card front from the paper collection. Ink the edges with Evergreen Bough DI. Mask off the outside edges of the card front and stamp the Sweet Lullaby Background onto the white area using Evergreen Bough DI. Heat emboss with Wow Neutral Shimmer Embossing powder.

Use French Ultramarine Archival ink to stamp the sentiment twice onto white cardstock. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Trim around one of the stamped sentiments and use it as a mask over the other. Use Chrome Yellow Archival Ink to stamp the leafy border from the background stamp above and below the stamped sentiment. Remove the mask. Die cut with the scalloped tag and ink lightly with Evergreen Bough and Worn Lipstick DI. Use a damp paper towel to wipe the ink away from the stamped sentiment. Ink the edges with Evergreen Bough DI and mat with teal cardstock.

Die cut the stroller from Glossy White Cardstock twice. Carefully trim away the smaller section of the stroller and use the remaining section as an umbrella. Glue one die to plain white cardstock and trim around it. Sponge with Evergreen Bough DI and Versamark Ink and heat emboss with Wow Neutral Shimmer Embossing Powder. While still warm, bend slightly to create a curved shape. Glue the other umbrella shape over the curved panel. (I found Aleene’s Tacky glue worked best for this.) Glue ruffled ribbon under the base of the umbrella. Die cut the stroller handle from a scrap of designer paper and use as umbrella handle.

Die cut the booties and flower from Glossy White Cardstock. Run ribbon through the lacy bootie tops and add a bow. Shape and stack the flowers and glue a button to the center.

Use Chrome Yellow Archival Ink to stamp the blocks from the background onto white cardstock. Heat emboss with clear powder and fussy cut. Ink with Evergreen Bough DI and mat onto teal cardstock. Glue onto the card base, use foam dots to add the booties on top of the blocks. Use foam adhesive to secure the umbrella to the top right corner of the card. Glue the handle and tag as shown. Add a button to the top of the umbrella. Add the bow, flower and button. Glue to card base.

For the interior, cut the card front and trim to fit. Add the stamped, die cut and inked sentiment circles and flowers as shown.

OH! what a wonderful card for invitations to a baby shower or a thank you for coming. I can also picture the umbrella and booties as the center piece for the the theme. Love it.

Kathy….this card is so precious. It just says “sweet new baby”. The little umbrella is so beautiful. Such painstaking time was spent on that to make it so perfect! I can tell! 🙂 The sweet little lacy booties and the BABY blocks add so much to the front of this card. They give it a sweet vintage look without being “grungy”. And your bow…your always lovely bows….just finishes off this card to perfection. The interior of the card is so crisp and coordinates to perfectly with your card front. Your envelope just finishes off everything in such a professional manner. Beautiful! <3 Candy
