I wasn’t going to enter any more challenges this month, but Cath Edvalson, the moxie fabulous hostess on Paper Crafts Magazine’s Moxie Fab World blog made me do it. How? By posting this yummy photo as the inspiration for this week”s Tuesday Trigger:
Time for another confession. I am a sucker for cute little birds and bright floral prints. This image just grabbed me! Look at that sweet little bird, and those darling tulips, look at all the bright colors. I grabbed my Simple Stories “Fabulous” collection and went to work on my interpretation of this fun image:
I distressed one of the journaling cards, punching one side with my Stampin’Up spiral notebook punch. I had fun sewing a crazy line all around the inked edges. I colored the little bird with Distress Markers and then hit it with some clear embossing powder. This made the bird image really pop.
I used my Stampin’ Up petals punch to make the three color coordinated tulips that are perched behind and beside the greeting. I stamped the sentiment using My Favorite Things Big Greetings stamps and Ranger Archival Ink in Monarch. The sentiment was heat embossed with clear embossing powder and cut into a flag shape. I traced around the edges using a black Zig marker.
I simply tied twine around the journaling tag and mounted it onto the orange panel with Dimensionals. I threaded a button with the same twine, used a Stampin’ Up Dimensional to secure it, and voila! The front of the card was finished. You can get a larger view of the finished product by clicking on the picture.
I wanted to finish the inside of the card as well. I grabbed a favorite Stampin’ Up bird stamp (I’m pretty sure it’s retired…I’ve had it for years, but it’s one of my favorites because it is so happy!) I stamped the body on a light pattered paper, cut it out and set it aside. I stitched the brown floral and orange dot papers together, added the sentiment, and stamped the legs onto the orange dot paper. Then, I mounted this cheery little bird and in no time flat, the card was finished. (I think it actually took me longer to photograph the card and write this blog post than it took me to make the card!)

I never appreciated how much time, thought and energy goes into creating a blog post until I decided to do it myself. Each comment you receive is like being tossed a fragrant bouquet of flowers. I savor each and every kind word, and thank you from the tips of my little fingers for taking the time to read my little blog.
