Mojo Monday #310 and Dynamic Duos #69 Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things
Good Tuesday Morning, friends! I’m just popping in real quick to share this week’s Mojo Monday/Dynamic Duo combo: Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things. The colors for this week’s Dynamic Duos challenge are Pacific Point and Old Olive. Both are bright, bold colors and I don’t work with that palette very often. I’m more comfortable with pastels and jewel tones. But a funny thing happened as I began to work with this duo…I got really happy! So maybe I need to dip into those bold, bright colors a little more often. Here’s this week’s fabulous sketch and the color sample so that you can play along:
When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted a lot of white in my card to balance those bold colors. So I cut a 5x 6.5 panel from Pacific Point cardstock and then stitched around it with green thread. I topped it with an embossed panel of whisper white that I matted with old olive.
I added a 3.75×3.75 square of Pacific Point cardstock that was stamped with white pigment ink and heat embossed with white superfine embossing powder. This was matted onto Old Olive Cardstock and then “fancied up” a little bit with twine, ribbon, another piece of embossed cardstock and a few pearls. I liked it, but it needed something…..maybe a button? So I got out my button box, not too hopeful of finding just the right shade of blue for this card, and lo and behold…this button was right on top of the heap. What are the odds?
Not only was it the perfect shade of blue, but it had little stitch marks around the outside. If I’d had a magic wand, I couldn’t have wished up a more perfect embellishment. And, yes…I took time to enjoy that simple thing!
I added just a touch of Washi tape in the upper left hand corner because I felt the card needed the additional touch of pattern, touch of pattern, and the washi tape was also magically the perfect colormatch.
I carried the color palette and the theme of this card onto the inside:

Do More of What Makes You Happy
Making this card got me thinking about the simple things in life…how wonderful they are and how often we fail to take the time to enjoy them. I love to watch the morning sun as it filters through the leaves of the trees in our back yard. I love that first sip of hot tea every morning. I love the sound of my husband’s keys as they jingle in the door lock when he comes home each day. It’s good to pay attention to the little things that add so much richness to our every day lives. I also think it’s important to take the time to do the things that bring us real joy. Life is short….and we were given the gift of this life so that we could enjoy it. Work is important, being responsible is part of being an adult, taking care of business is a necessity. But when was the last time you stopped to do something just because it made you happy? If it’s been too long, maybe you need to think for a moment about what DOES make you happy…and then go do it! One of the reasons I play along in Mojo Monday and Dynamic Duos is because I have so much fun putting this paper puzzle together every week. What are the simple pleasures of life that you enjoy?
Thanks for taking the time to stop by the blog today. I love sharing my thoughts and creations with you. When you share your comments with me, it kind of completes the circle…and it makes me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers! Until next time,
