Introducing Everythings Blooming by Annette Green with Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello, Friends!  Today I have the honor of introducing Everythings Blooming by Annette Green.  Annette and I formed a friendship when we were both special projects designers for Graphic 45.  She’s  such a fun person, and incredibly talented.   I’m so excited to announce that Annette has just released her very first collection of dies and stamps with Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Even better, Annette has invited me to join her design team.  What fun!

This new collection is called Everythings Blooming. It’s loaded with 10 lovely die sets and 3 sets of stamps.  I was immediately drawn to the Playful Flowers and Large Doilies dies.  Since our newlywed daughter and her husband have just moved into their first home, I decided to make them a little housewarming gift featuring these fun dies.

How to Shape 3-D Everythings Blooming Playful Flowers

These layered flowers are really versatile!  You can layer them flat, which is very pretty.  Or, you can take them 3-D as I did here.

  • First, die cut the flowers from white cardstock. I used the 3 petal flowers with the heart shaped petals, the pierced petals and the solid petals.  Cut 3 of each.
  • Next, swipe Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink on your craft sheet.  Spritz with water until little beads of color form.
  • Now place your flower layers into the inky puddle and tap gently for a second or two. Flip the flower layer so that you can add ink to the back side as well. You can repeat this process until you’ve achieved the color you desire.
  • Next, gently heat dry the flowers with your heat gun, or leave them to dry on their own.
  • Gently shape the backs of the flower layers with a ball stylus to slightly round them.
  • Stack the three shaped layers together with the pierced layer in the back, the solid layer in the center and the heart shaped layer at the front.
  • Use a dab of hot glue between the layers, and before  you add the second layer, place some pretty flower stamens in the hot glue.
  • Once the layers are all stacked, you can kind of pinch the outer edges to pouf out the flowers.
  • Lightly brush or spatter with diluted ivory chalk paint and brush the top and sides with Picked Raspberry distress ink.
The Shaker Frame

The Large Doilies are a perfect choice for shaker frames!  Simply die cut clear cardstock (acetate sheets) with a circle die and adhere to the back of the doily.  Add three layers of 1/8″ foam strips and you’ve got a super cute shaker frame!

A Peek Inside

I added a little pocket inside the card, then tucked in a cute magnet made with one of the 4×6 cards from the paper collection.

Such a sweet sentiment to hang on the fridge, don’t you agree?

More Playful Flowers

Because I was having so much fun with these dies, I decided to make another card. These dimensional flowers are made with the same process I used for the first card.  Aren’t they cheery?  I layered in some of the Stemmed Flowers to fill out my bow cluster.

Do you like the shaker frame?  It’s made with the Everythings Blooming Postage Stamps Dies. They are perfect for shaker frames!  I also made a cute bee tag with the Honeybee and Happy Stamp sets.  The “hello” greeting is die cut from the Everyday Words dies.  Each word has a solid shadow layer, which makes it very easy to add the sentiment to the project.

Let’s talk about that sweet layered border, shall we?  This is made by die cutting two layers with the Lace Borders Dies.  The bottom layer is solid color cardstock and the top is patterned paper.  Stagger the layers when you glue them together to achieve this fun look.

What’s Inside?

You  knew there had to be a pocket, didn’t you?

I tucked in a sweet little tea wallet, tea bag, honey stick, bookmark and a blank circular sentiment panel.

I will be back on Saturday with more fun Everythings Blooming samples.  The dies are shipping out to stores now, and should be available in April.  I’ll provide links in the supply list at the bottom of this post.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Cute, right?  And a perfect home décor accent for spring, Mother’s Day gift, birthday gift or get well surprise.  I designed the box so that we have room to tuck in a little tea party in a box or other goodies, too.  To be clear, those items don’t come in the kit, but there is room for you to add your own should you choose to do so.

Of course, we make traditional style cards in this kit, too.  And I share some of my sneaky card making tricks in the video tutorials.

The collection offers a lovely variety of spring colors and shabby chic images like the ones featured on these slimline cards.

And because the collection has a beautiful border sheet in it, I had fun making various belly band card designs.  These double gatefold cards sport a pretty belly band.

And these double gatefold cards are easy to mail, thanks to the neat belly band design.

And of course, I had to include some of my favorite easel cards in the kit.  These fold down flat so they are easy to mail, too.

Your Creative Studio Unboxing Video & Sewing Themed Easel Card Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  For this week’s Throwback Thursday I have a fun Your Creative Studio Unboxing video and sewing themed card tutorial to share with you.  We’re going to play with some mixed media products, make this lovely pocket/tag easel card together, and peek inside the December 2022 Your Creative Studio box of goodies.  So grab a cuppa and a snack and we’ll get things rolling.

I had not heard of Your Creative Studio until they reached out to me earlier this month.  “Can we send you one of our monthly boxes for an unboxing video?” they asked me.  Once I took a look at their website to determine if their products were a good fit for my style, I said, “Sure!”

YCV curates a monthly subscription box filled with crafting goodies designed to allow you to create your own quality stationery.  Each themed box is filled with stamps, embellishments, paper, ephemera bits, washi tape and all sorts of goodies that we paper crafters love to have in our stash.  The December box that I received had a sewing theme…one of my all time favorites!

Mixed Media Tag and Pocket Easel Card

And here is what I made with the supplies that came in my box.  I added ribbon, flowers, buttons, inks, gesso,  and the cute scissors from my stash.

The product packaging was so lovely that I used it to make the tag you see here.  We will make this tag and card together in the video tutorial below.

A Peek Inside

Y’all know how much I enjoy adding pockets to my cards, folios and albums.  So this lovely card has two pockets: a small pocket that holds a stack of cute sticky notes from the creative box and a larger one that I’ve filled with some sweet treats.

If you’re going to make a sewing themed card, it’s fun to tuck in some vintage buttons and a little lace trim.  So I did…along with a beautiful note card and a bit of chocolate.  Now the card is a gift!

If you’d like to see what came in my box and learn how to make this sweet sewing themed card, then I hope you will enjoy this video on my YouTube channel.

This was a very fun introduction to Your Creative Studio, and I really enjoyed working with the contents of the box.  Of course, you can use this same card design and concept with supplies that you already have in your stash.  But I’ve also added a linked supply list below this post for your convenience.

Botanical Bird Themed Junk Journal

Spellbinders Cathe Holden Vintage Flea Market Finds Junk Journal Kathy Clement Kathy by Design

Bird Themed Botanical Junk Journal with Spellbinders Cathe Holden Vintage Flea Market Finds

Hello, Friends!  It’s the first day of Spring, and I have a sunshiny Bird Themed Botanical Junk Journal to share with you on this Make & Take Tuesday.  If you are a fan of bird themed projects, vibrant florals and a vintage vibe, then this easy to make junk journal is going to make you smile.  It features some fun elements from Cathe Holden’s new Vintage Flea Market Finds release over at Spellbinders.

Songbirds and Sunshine

Here’s how I built the base of this simple 5×7 Junk Journal folio:

  • First, cut (2) 11″ x 7″ panels of extra heavy (110#) kraft cardstock.
  • Next, place 1/4″ Scor-Tape on a 7″ edge of one panel.
  • Now remove the tape liner and using the inner edge of the tape as a guide, overlap one panel over the other to form one long strip of cardstock that is 7″ tall.
  • Then place the long panel on your scoring tool and score at 5″, 5 1/2″ and 10 1/2″.  Fold on the 10 1/2″ score line, and continue to score two more 5″ panels.
  • You will have a short 1 1/2″ panel all the way on the right.  This will be a little side pocket.
  • Now, fold the 5″ and 5 1/2″ score lines to form a front and back cover.
  • Finally, accordion fold the remaining panels so that the side pocket panel winds up on top.

You’ll see how the folio folds in the project share video below.

The Spine and Elastic Band Closure

Line the spine of your junk journal with a bit of crochet lace.  I had this pretty 1 1/2″ wide yellow lace in my stash.  Brush the spine and 1/2″ of the front and back cover with gel medium or Dries Clear Adhesive to attach the lace. Then punch a hole in the center of the spine for the elastic closure.  Here’s how to make the elastic closure:

  • Thread a button with elastic thread (available at most fabric stores) and leave the tails long.
  • Next, run the tails through the hole in the center of the spine so that the button is on the inside. (Make sure the button is not wider than the spine!)
  • Now wrap the thread around the middle of the journal.  You want it to be a little bit snug, but not too tight.  Tie the ends together with another square knot, but leave room to thread another button.
  • Run the tails behind the knot through another button and tie another square knot.  Now you have a cute elastic/button closure for your Junk Journal.
A Peek Inside

Accordion fold journals are the easiest to make.  This photo shows how the journal folds into itself and the small side  pocket page that sits at the front of the journal.  All the papers and ephemera bits are from the Vintage Flea Market Finds release.

Here’s a look at the 3 inside panels.  I opted to go with a pocket/insert format because it allowed me to use up scraps of designer paper on tags and pockets.   You’ll get a full tour of in the video below.

April Banner of the Month Tutorial

Graphic 45 April Banner of the Month Tutorial-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design-

April Banner of the Month Tutorial with Graphic 45 Time to Flourish and Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  It’s Throwback Thursday, and I’m here with our April Banner of the Month Tutorial.  We started this through the year series with our February Banner, then last month we got our March Banner made.  Now it’s time to get ready for Easter with tulips, chicks, butterflies and spring flowers.

Even if there’s still snow in your part of the world (I’m truly sorry if that is the case) this sweet banner will make it feel like springtime inside your home.  I thought about Easter eggs when I was choosing the color palette for this banner.  It reminds me so much of the old Pas Easter Egg dying kits I had when I was a kid.

TIP #1: Choose a wide (1 1/2″) ribbon and fold it over the tops of the banner pennants.  Then top it with some beautiful white crochet lace.  Hold the layers together with binder clips as you stitch across the top.  Then turn the banner and stitch along the bottom edge of the lace to make everything nice and secure.

Put on Your Easter Bonnet

TIP #2 : Combine fussy cut images from the 12×12 papers with die cut layers, flowers, butterflies and little tags. Pop individual layers up with foam tabs or waste chipboard to add extra dimension.

TIP #3:  Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful board is a perfect color match with this paper collection.

TIP #4: Mix and match pastel spring flowers to achieve that Easter Egg Basket or Jelly Bean color palette.  It’s a great way to use up leftover flowers from previous projects.

TIP #5: Tie Baker’s Twine bows between each pennant and top with a vintage style button

TIP #6: Cover Ivory ATC tags with the G45 ATC Tag Die, then hang vintage keys and enamel flowers from the grommet on the bottom for extra fun.

If you’d like to follow along as I make this sweet banner, please enjoy this video tutorial on my YouTube channel.

This banner is so much fun to make and I hope you’ll give it a try.  I’ve added a linked supply list below this post to help you find the supplies you’ll need.

You can also purchase this banner!  Please shoot me an email or comment below if you’d like to have it hanging in your home.
