Photoplay Add Another Candle Birthday Card with Really Reasonable Ribbon
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! It was a rainy, dark and blustery spring day when I put this Add Another Candle Birthday Card together. The vibrant colors and playful patterns brought the sunshine right into my studio! I love when that happens, don’t you?
If you are looking for a quick and easy way to dress a card up in its party best, I highly recommend ribbon! The right ribbon gives a card its own personality. Take this ruffled pink gingham ribbon, for example. I stitched it to the base of the focal image. Then, I wrapped it with a few layers of Baker’s Twine and tied a bow. It’s such a simple thing to do, but it really elevated the design of this card.
TIP: Always cut ribbons and trims a little wider than the card. Then wrap the cut ends behind the panel for a clean and professional finish.
TIP: Pull colors from the paper collection when you are choosing embellishments and ribbons. Really Reasonable Ribbon has a pretty selection of 1/4″ wide gingham ribbons that I really like! For this card, cut 1 piece of pink, yellow and orange gingham ribbon. Then tie them together using your Bow-it-All Tool. Top it off with a pretty button and you’ve got really pretty bow cluster.
A Peek Inside
Add a pocket inside your easel card. The pocket serves two purposes: first, it acts as a stopper or brake for the easel mechanism on your card. Then, it provides you with a handy spot to tuck in a little gift card wallet. Everyone loves a birthday surprise!
It seems like no matter how many I make, I never have enough birthday cards on hand. So I think I’ll go ahead and make a stack of these cheery cards to have on hand when the next birthday rolls around.

So much attention to detail with these beautiful cards. Love all the embellishments and especially the little cupcake charm. A nice added touch!
You’re so right about the cheery colors of this card, Kathy. That’s a celebration in itself. This paper and ephemera pack is amazing for birthday cards–it has everything needed…just add the ribbon. Your RRR choices were perfect for this one as it gathers up all the fun colors. tfs–stay well. Hugs!
This card is so cheerful and loaded with the concept of BIRTHDAY!! I don’t usually like paper collections like this…colors are too intense for me…but this project is giving me a different perspective. I may have to do some rethinking. LOVE the lined up candles that could be created from any paper collection…terrific idea, Kathy! OO-oo-oo! LOVE the embellishment buttons you’ve chosen just for this card. I think I’ve been stuck on using 3 same color in different styles…these 3 colors are a wonderful design element!!! Isn’t that cupcake charm cute? I smile every time I attach one to a card. Thanks for brightening a cloudy day!! .
So sweet
