Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio Project Share
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! I got it in my head to create a new style of folio the other day, and I’m so excited to share it with you here. This Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio is the perfect place to showcase your family reunion photos, vacation photos or just everyday summer fun photos.
The base of this 6.75″ x 7.25″ folio is made with 12″ x 18″ black cardstock. I’ve layered it up with vibrant papers from Authentique’s “Cheerful” Collection Kit. Really Reasonable Ribbon 5/8″ Black Plaid Ribbon lends a country chic vibe to these cheery papers.
These black vintage buttons make me so happy! I found them last summer while vacationing in Maine. As we were driving along the back roads, we spotted an old fashioned flea market. You know the kind where they set up plywood on top of sawhorses in an old dirt lot. Those are always the best! I found 3 antique canning jars filled to the brim with vintage buttons for $5 apiece! You can bet that I snatched those buttons up in a hot minute, then did my happy dance all the way to the car!
The images in this collection are so very sweet. This small sticker image could easily have disappeared in the design of this large folio cover. That’s why I framed it with this altered chipboard frame and filled it with Prills.
Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio: A peek inside
The interior of this folio is so much fun!
I figured out how to add a 4.25″ x 6.25″ pull out page on the top half. This has a ribbon tie closure, as well as magnets between the cover pages to help keep it closed.
Then I built a box style pocket on the bottom half of the folio. The base is Graphic 45’s Alpha Banner Tags. To cover the tags, I used my Graphic 45 Regular Tag and Gears Die. I am in love with these new dies and can’t seem to stop using them!
The tags are topped with more plaid ribbon and prettied up with this Sheer Red Cherry Print Organza. Black Burlap String makes everything pop.
I used my table scraps to create this little gift card wallet. Red vintage buttons on a vintage button card make a sweet tuck in surprise.

Kathy, what a fun folio! I love the picnic theme, and those sweet kiddo images! The gingham bow and those vintage buttons are the details that just make this extra special! I enjoyed your video, and am so happy I had a few extra minutes to see all those flips and flaps–wow! This has tones of room to hold a LOT of memories!
I enjoyed reading your memory of spotting the flea market, and I laughed at the vision of you scurrying back to your car with 3 jars of buttons! What a find! Sending hugs!
Kathy, I just love this folio. Picnic and gingham just shouts “Summer!” The layers of the folio front are awesome (the little framed picture is sooo cute). This project so perfect for a holiday weekend project. As I watched your video I couldn’t help thinking what a great gift to give a “picnic hostess” to collect memories of the day and even some picnic recipe cards to go with the added photos and such. Thanks for sharing such an inspiring creation.
