How sweet is this focal image of Mother and Child planting the garden?  Pretty doggone sweet!  This mixed media collage style folio measures 5″ x 5.75″ with a 1/2″ spine.

Picket Fence Distress Paint has been dry brushed onto the flower petals.  I also spattered the finished folio with some diluted walnut ink.

I love the rustic, homey feel of these Frontier patterns, images and sentiments.  It just takes me right back to my country roots.  I can remember helping my mom plant her flowers each spring.  She loved to dig in the dirt, and I loved to get in her way!

Little Birdie Flowers and Bold Red Plaid Ribbon add tons of texture to this very dimensional card.  I dug through my crafty stash and found these miniature rusty farm tools.  I have no idea where I found them…but I’m super glad I grabbed them when I did!

A miniature white picket fence and vintage button add even more country charm to this sweet folio.

Opening the cover reveals some really fun interactive elements! I tried some new “tricks” with this folio, and I think you are going to  like them!  For instance, the cover of this little flap features a 4.25″ square photo folio with a magnetic closure.

Inside the flap, there’s a lovely little pocket filled with journal cards. Authentique takes the blue ribbon prize for all the wonderful cut apart borders, stamps, sentiments, journal cards and focal images in this amazing collection!

This is the most fun I’ve had playing with paper in a while. Since I love all things plaid, gingham and floral, Frontier really speaks my language!

Authentique Frontier Country Blessings Folio Tutorial on YouTube

I’ve prepared a YouTube project share to go along with this fun Country Blessings Folio so that you can see all the various mechanisms in action.  After the short tour, I’ll show you how to build the folio base and add the flap feature.  You’ll also learn how to create the accordion style pull out page.  The decorating is left up to you, so as to keep the video from becoming too long. But you can always use these photos as a guide if you wish to replicate the project.

Once you know how to build this folio base, you can use it with any collection you choose.

I hope I’ve shared some tips and tricks that you can use in your own crafty adventures.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Thanks for stopping by!

Kathy, you know I LOVE your folios, and I never tire of them! This one speaks to me especially with these wonderful farm themed papers! You have showcased the collection wonderfully and added the perfect embellishments for this sweet mother/daughter scene. Reminds me of the good old days when my kids would help me in the garden. Such a sweet image! Inside, you’ve created such amazing eye candy, and your tutorial on the video is exceptional. So easy to follow; I’m sure even a paper klutz like myself might be able to do the construction. I just ordered a paper collection with something like this in mind, so thank you for making it so much easier to me to enjoy the process! Sending huge hugs for all your hard work and creative inspiration!

Kathy, just love this project. The front image is so sweet with the flowers and those little implements. Your video tutorial is so helpful for these fold out pieces. I’ve got to try the double accordion fold. It has so many possibilities for pockets and tuck ins. I love these themed Authentique paper sets. tfs

So so awesome Kathy! Just luv this! Oh girl …it matches the other Authentique Country card so perfectly! How do you do that? And I do luv every single detail of it! I’ve got those papers …used the western side of them for an easel card from one of your tutorials …and it turned out great! The couple loved it! (Gee you make me look good!) Thanks so much for that! Now I’m gonna go get my craft on for the garden side of these papers! Luv all the flips and flaps and folios of this! … (Just as soon as I get to watch the tutorial) …. Thanks again! Hugs Suzy Q

Oh Kathy, that folio is so fantastic! I love all the little embellishments you do that really put the icing on the cake, “like spattering the ink” . I would never think to do something like that. But NOW i will. I just watched the video and am so glad you made it. Your tutorials are awesome! Thank you for taking the time to make it.

wow – from a brown paper bag to frontier country – you are in quite the rustic mood lately, aren’t you?! *insert winking eye wicked grin here*
I love the way you’ve used this country collection and married it with your own elegant and slightly over-the-top extravagant style of presentation! Country gardens, watering cans and baskets of vegetables have never looked so luxe! Really a lovely way to showcase these papers. You’ve knocked another one out of the ballpark, Kathy! Two days in a row you have used items that aren’t really in my wheelhouse, and just knocked my socks off!
(And obviously, have sent me to the metaphor store!)
    Thanks for sharing!
