Birthday Card of the Month with Mintay Chocolate Kiss

January 2024 Birthday Card of the Month with Mintay Chocolate Kiss and Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  Today we’re going to create our January 2024 Birthday Card of the Month with Mintay Chocolate Kiss and some paper pretties from Reneabouquets.  Working with this scrumptious paper collection had me craving some sweet treats, let me tell you!

First, I had to decide what type of card to make.  After all, this is our very first Birthday Card of the Month tutorial.  It needs to set the tone.  Easel cards are probably my favorite fancy fold design. I never get tired of making them.  Then, I decided to tweak the basic easel card design to make it even more fun.

How?  Well, how about a bookmark pocket built into the cover of the card?  You’ll learn how to do this in the video tutorial below.

A Peek Inside

Stamped birthday sentiments from my stash,  fussy cut images, and flirty butterflies  helped dress up the card design inside and out!  The interior pocket acts as a stopper for the easel mechanism, but it also provides a lovely spot to tuck in some birthday treats!

One simply must place chocolate in a chocolate themed birthday card.  And if one is going to enjoy a bit of chocolate, it should be accompanied by a cuppa. Don’t you agree?  I also dressed up that sweet little tag with an itty bitty notecard and a surprise flap element on the back side.  All will be revealed in the video tutorial below.

Of course, you could easily use this card for Valentine’s Day.  Simply change up the sentiments, and you’re good to go!

I’ll be back on Thursday with a fun mixed media Valentine tutorial.  Sound like fun?

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Love the idea of a monthly birthday card and a great start to the year Kathy. This is more than chocolate, it is delicious artiness! The pocket on the cover has so many possibilities, and that wee cake charm finishes the project beautifully. I also like the way you have gone outside the square using the papers for other projects not specifically to Valentines, lateral thinking gal. Thanks for sharing.

This is such a stunning and fun card, dear Kathy! I love all of it’s different features and that cute tag with a belly band to hold the chocolate. I can see you had lots of fun making this one. Hugs!

Can’t wait to make this. I have two February birthdays and this is perfect for at least one. Thank you for your tutorials. They have elevated my makes to a new level. I make ten cards for grandchildren for holidays so mine aren’t quite as elaborate plus I make most of the decorative elements. My specialty is the flowers. I had become bored with my cards as they always felt the same. Now I can give special birthday cards to each child.

I am stunned by the beauty of this card and your many others. You are a true artist! I am going to try to make this card and hope it turns out halfway as beautiful as yours

What a fantastic way to start the birthday card of the month series! Love what you’ve done with this paper collection. The bookmark pocket on the front is a great addition. Thank you for sharing this video.
