Christmas in July: Blue Christmas Card with Polly’s Paper Studio and BLOG CANDY
Hello, Friends!
This is my very last Christmas in July project…and you know that old saying about saving the best for last? This might be my favorite project made from Polly’s Paper Studio Retro Christmas Creative Kit. There’s just something about these soft colors and beautiful image in this blue Christmas card that makes me happy.
I love blue and white…but on a Christmas card, they just make me feel all cozy and nostalgic. I stitched the pretty retro Christmas ornament onto white burlap, then matted on blue cardstock. The pretty papers and sweet little tag came in the kit. I added doilies, ribbon, snowflakes, brads and sequins to make this card sparkle and shine.
Silver foil paper around the edges and soft blue stitching add to the warmth of this pretty card. The layers are simple: two papers from the kit, topped with two doily borders from my stash and the stitched focal.
I added find glitter to the focal image, but it is hard to pick up with the camera. In real life, this card sparkles like it has been dusted with freshly fallen snow. My silver snowflake sports a glittery blue brad in the center. Framing the focal image like this makes a real impact.
I created a big poufy bow with Blue Topaz Satin Swiss Dots Ribbon then topped it with pretty holiday silver and white bead and berry sprays. I sprinkled some silver sequins around to add even more shimmer and shine.
The inside of the card contains paper that was inked, spritzed and then stamped with one of Tim’s Holiday stamps. The sentiment is a retired Stampin’ Up holiday greeting. I had one little tiny scrap of the pretty polka dot paper left over from the kit, and added it as a banner. It’s the perfect spot to add a signature and personal message.
So let’s tally it up: Using the Retro Christmas Creativity Kit I was able to make 3 adorable snowman cards, one altered art box with a mini album inside, and this soft and shabby blue Christmas card. That’s a lot of mileage from one small kit!

Beautiful card Kathy! You know I am a follower and love your work. I make my Christmas cards and live in the US. Happy Birthday!!!
Love the crisp blue and white combination, Kathy, and the red pop of colour really makes the whole thing ‘sing’.
Your birthday is the same day as my mums, and the same date as my daughter and s.i.l’s wedding anniversary! So — now I know that your birthday is the same date, I’m highly unlikely to forget! (yay.. love it when something like this happens – it helps my rubbish memory.)
Sending oodles of love and squishy stuff ~ Cobs. x
Beautiful projects Kathy! I make my cards for Christmas (birthdays too) and I live in Oregon. Your a Leo like my daughter, who just celebrated her birthday on the 23rd. Happy birthday!

Wow this is gorgeous!
Thanks for letting us know what extras you’ve added, Kathy! Love the card and the kit.
I make my cards for special people and buy for business and those who I know just throw their cards away. I put a lot of time and effort into creating and really, if I know they are not appreciated and will be tossed in the trash, I feel it isn’t worth the effort. On the other hand, for those who I know love receiving cards made especially for them, I get immense pleasure in designing and creating for them.
I am a US follower and look at every one of your emails! Thanks again.
Hi Kathy a gorgeous Christmas scene to lose track of time in. It evokes memories from Christmas past and gives a real nostalgic feel. An international follower who loves your work. So glad I found you x

Gosh, Kathy, You must save this card to send to Wilmington, NC! Better yet, hand deliver it! This is gorgeous; I love the blue and white with the splash of red, and you are so right–it is so reminiscent of an earlier time. I always love that you sew on your cards…I am so inspired by that, but alas, do not take the time as I should, as the sewing machine is tucked away, and only comes out occasionally. I do hope I will be able to get a birthday card off to you. I will be e-mailing you shortly. Love and hugs! Sara Emily
