Blue Fern Studios Yuletide Sleigh Ride

Blue Fern Studios Yuletide Sleigh Ride with December Ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  I don’t know about you, but this Blue Fern Studios Yuletide Sleigh Ride Tea Party in a Box transports me to Downton Abbey!  Oh, the places you can go when you play with beautiful papers!

Of course, beautiful papers call for beautiful ribbons.  And I cannot think of a more perfect ribbon pairing than these beauties from the Really Reasonable Ribbon December Ribbon Club Assortment.

TIP: Layered ribbons add texture, pattern and elegance to a card.  Top Silver Edged Bluebird Satin Ribbon with Fair Isle Satin ribbon for a bold and beautiful border.  Then tie a big loopy bow with more Bluebird Satin, top it with a velvety white poinsettia, and you’re half way to Downton!

Elegant Details

This vintage sleigh is adorned with a cluster of gardenias, roses and poinsettia.  Lady Mary lost one of the jewels on her winter coat as she sped through the pearly white snow.  The ever faithful Carson picked it up and tucked it into the floral bouquet.  What would we ever do without him?

No winter outing is complete without a few turns around the skating rink.  So be sure to take along your best skates so you can glide over the ice as the fairy lights twinkle around you.

TIP: Add texture and pattern to your designer paper by stamping and embossing snowflakes over the blank areas.  Then spatter the paper with diluted ivory paint to simulate a blizzard.

TIP: Paint silver tone metallic charms with a bit of chalk paint to add the perfect vintage vibe.  Tie the charms and a fairy globe to silver metallic string, then loop around the bow cluster to secure.

TIP:  Pearly flourishes add a sense of movement to the card.  I bet you have some of these in your stash!

Time to Warm Up!

All that outdoor activity leaves one needing a bit of refreshment, don’t you agree?

Add a pocket to the inside of your card.  Then create a textured border with more of the Fair Isle Satin Ribbon.  Tuck a tea bag, mini candy cane stirrer and bit of chocolate into the pocket for a lovely warm up treat!

I hope you enjoyed taking an old fashioned sleigh ride with me today!  You can find a linked supply list below this post.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

Kathy, this card is just so gorgeous! There is something about sleighs (even though I’ve never been in one) that makes me happy to look at. This paper collection is so beautiful with it’s nostalgic, cozy feel. I love the soft muted color palette. The bird images are so sweet and I love the little pair of ice skates and snow flake hanging from your beautiful flower and ribbon. Thank you for sharing ! Hugs!
