Butterfly Medley : Love Seeds Card Tutorial for Heartfelt Creations Wednesday
Hello, Friends! Happy Heartfelt Creations Wednesday from wintry North Carolina! It is soooo cold this morning…single digit temps and some lingering ice from the storm that blew through on Monday night. All I can say is “Brrrrrrr” Bring on Springtime! Are you with me? So to help us “think Spring” I have a lovely Butterfly Medley Love Seeds card to share with you this morning.
This 6″ square easel card features the beautiful Botanical Rose STAMP and matching Botanical Wings Die. If you love making flowers, these botanical roses will really capture your heart! You stamp all 6 layers at one time, and then die cut them with just one pass through your cutting machine. And, you can shape them in so many different ways that once you get started, it’s hard to stop!
The papers in this collection are dreamy and delicious! And my favorite element is these beautiful little seed packets that can be cut into tags. There are packets called Seeds of Hope, Happiness Seeds, and Love Seeds. I designed this card so that the tag can be removed and used as home decor. Stamp some of the flirty butterflies and die cut to create a botanical garden that will melt your heart. I’ve added a bodacious bow made from Rose Silky Crush Ribbon to tie everything together.
Because this is an easel card, the inside is as important as the outside. Here, I’ve added one of the beautiful die cut tickets from the collection along with a glorious Swallowtail butterfly that I stamped, colored and die cut.
You’ll find a complete supply list and detailed tutorial below, so that you can make your own Love Seeds card if you’re of a mind to. It’s the best remedy I know for winter!
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy

Note: all cut paper edges are inked with Tea Dye Distress Ink.
Create a 6″ square easel card base from cream cardstock. Cut the 6″ card front from the paper collection and trim to 5 1/2″ square.
Cut the Love Seeds tag from the collection, trimming out the banner ends and around the flowers and leaves. Mat with a pink glitter cardstock tag that you cut out with HCD 745 Luggage and Tags Die. Mat with a slightly larger piece of Pearlized Green cardstock. Place on the card as shown, and use your straightedge and craft knife to cut a slit on an angle just above the sentiment so that you can tuck the tag into the slit, as shown. Use 1/2″ Scor-Tape to wrap the card front with Silky Crushed Pink ribbon and mat with Pink Glitter Cardstock, being sure to leave the area around the slit clear so that you can slip the tag in between the card layers. Mat the Pink Glitter Cardstock with a 6″ square of Pearlized Green Cardstock. Glue onto the prepared easel card base. Punch a hole in the top of the tag and add ribbon, bow and button. Tuck into the slit on the card front. Use a small metal clip or paper clip to secure the tag to one of the pieces of ribbon on the tag topper. It will not show, but it will keep the tag from slipping out of the pocket you created.
Stamp Botanical Rose onto cream cardstock using Rose Madder Archival ink. Heat emboss with clear powder and die cut with HCD 758 Botanical Wings die. Color with Worn Lipstick DI, shape and stack. Add glass beads. Brush very lightly with a tiny bit of water and add Perfect Pearls to the petals. Glue onto the card and tag, being careful not to glue the tag onto the card base. Add leaves and stick pins.
Stamp HCPC 3640 Butterfly Medley on to cream cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Die cut, color with watercolor pencils and water brush and shape the wings. Glue onto card and tag, being careful not to glue the tag onto the card base.
Cut a 6″ square from the paper collection to line the inside of the card. Add trim and buttons. Use HCD 745 to cut the sentiment ticket and 2 pink glitter tickets from the paper collection and add to border. Stamp, die cut, color and shape the large butterfly from HCPC 3652 Botanical Wings. Glue onto the border next to the tickets. Use Crystal Stickles to add glitter effects to all the butterfly wings and the flower centers on the designer paper.

Simply have to make a board on pinterest dedicated to you, these are so gorgeous. I was a little bummed that Heartfelt didn’t make 8×8’s when I went to their booth all I could think was that I’d hate to cut into any piece that would make me waste any paper! Well, you make their papers sing like a lark.
Ohhhh Kathy, this is truly beautiful. The colours are perfect and I adore those flowers!
As for the weather… it’s been raining BIG rain drops, and lots of them, all bloomin’ day. I got soaked through on the three times I had to go out in it. But .. the Lord doesn’t tell me when to water my garden, so I hardly think that I have the right to tell him when to water his.
Keep snug and warm (and safe) my much loved blogging friend.
Sending love and hugs ~ Cobs. xx
