Authentique Masquerade Halloween Tea Tag by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01Authentique Masquerade Halloween Tea Tag: Halloween Week Day 5

Hello, Friends!  This Authentique Masquerade  Halloween Tea Tag is proof that the holiday is not just for  kids.  Who would not love to give (or receive) this “Tea Party in a Tag” treat?  It’s assembled just like the Halloween Treat Tags that I shared earlier this week.  And, it uses the same paper collection.  Simply swap out the more adult “mask” themed papers and images for the too cute to spook ones.

Look at all the goodies you can fit inside the tag pocket!  It’s everything you need to brew up a Halloween Tea Party for one.  You gotta love that Halloween party image from the paper collection, too!

The back side of the tag is a clever little tea wallet.

What a fun way to say “BOO!”

I hope you’ve enjoyed Halloween Week.  It’s always a little sad to put our fun Halloween papers away for the season.

I still have a couple of cute Halloween Pop Up Cards in my ETSY shop if you need a last minute card or gift.

Next week I’ll be sharing some beautiful fall creations.  Then it’s on to a month of Christmas inspiration in November.  What sort of projects and product lines would you like to see?  Please let me know in the comment section below.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Halloween!

Halloween Week Day Two: Quick & Easy Treat Tags with Authentique Masquerade

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to Halloween Week Day Two!  Today we’re going to make quick & easy treat tags with Authentique Masquerade and G45 Large Black Tags.  You’re going to love how simple it is to put these little beauties together!

How to Make a Halloween Treat Tag
  • Begin by die cutting tag liners with the G45 Large Tag Die.  You will need 2 liners per tag.
  • If you do not have this die, you can just cut designer paper to measure 3 5/8″ x 8 1/4″.  Round the corners with a punch.
  • Cut 2 1/2″ from the bottom of the die cut.  This will line the pocket flap.

  • Place a G45 Large Black Tag on your scoring tool so that the rounded edge is on the left.
  • Now score at 7″ and 7 1/2″.
  • Fold along the score lines to form the base of a pocket.
  • Adhere the tag liners to the tag base. Remember that the pocket  flap will be folded up, so make sure you are lining the correct side of the pocket flap.
  • Next, cut 2 pieces of 1 1/2″ wide  black cardstock.  You want the height to be slightly shorter than the pocket flap. Score each piece at 1/2″ and 1″.  These will be the pocket sides.  Simply adhere the outer flaps to the sides of the pocket.

TIP:  You can make your own tag from heavy black cardstock.  Cut the piece to measure  3 3/4″ x 9″.  Cut the top corners and round the bottom with a corner rounding punch.  Then score and fold as we did above.

  • Once the tags have been lined and the pocket flap is secure, wrap the pocket with a piece of ribbon and tie a bow.
  • Now you just need to add ribbons and decorate the tag.
  • A full sized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup fits perfectly in the pocket.  Dress it up with a little designer paper if you wish.
The Flip Side

Here’s a peek at the back side of the tag. Create a little note card from a 6 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ scrap of black cardstock. Score it down the middle.  Add a 3×4 image to the front.  Place magnets inside to hold it shut.  Then line with designer papers.

This gives you the perfect spot to add a spooky greeting.  These are such fun to make that I had to do another one.  Here’s a peek:

Ghosts in the Camera Halloween Shaker Card

Authentique Masquerade Amazing Paper Grace Vintage Camera Vignette Die by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Ghost in the Camera Halloween Shaker Card with APG October Die of the Month Club

Hello, Friends!  Halloween Hijinks are afoot in this Ghost in the Camera Shaker Card!  First I  paired up Authentique Paper’s Masquerade Collection with the Amazing Paper Grace October 2020 Die of the Month.   Then I invited Reneabouquets  Beautiful Board, Buttons Galore Novelty Buttons,  and Really Reasonable Ribbon to this Ghostly Masquerade party.  Those mischievous little ghosts employed a little hocus pocus to trap a masked couple inside the lens of this spooky little camera.

Before we look at the details of this whimsical card, I need to announce the winner of my World Cardmaking Day Giveaway.  The randomly chosen winner (I used random.org) is Claire Gagne!

Congratulations, Claire!  I’ll be contacting you via email to let you know how to claim your Splendor Card Club Kit from the Button Farm.

Amazing Paper Grace Vintage Vignette Camera: Poof!  You’re a Shaker Element

The Vintage Vignette Camera Die is designed to function as a pop up element.  But you can easily turn it into a shaker element.  Here’s how:

  • First die cut the camera body from black cardstock.  Place the largest and next to the larges lens circles inside the aperture of the camera.
  • Then cut the camera body again just as you did with the black cardstock.  But this time use patterned paper.
  • Now remove the lenses from the aperture and die cut from patterned paper again.  This will be the back of the shaker element.
  • Next, Die cut the little camera body again from clear cardstock (acetate).  Be sure to take the lenses out!  We need a solid piece of acetate.
  • Now die cut the top of the camera from both black cardstock and a complementary pattern.
  • Use the camera lens to cut the  masquerade couple from a 3×4 card
  • Layer the pieces in this order:
    • Patterned camera body with aperture
    • Black camera body with aperture (stagger this so the black border shows)
    • Clear cardstock.
    • 3 rows of 1/8″ foam strips on the back of this assembly
    • Patterned paper camera body without the aperture
      • center the die cut couple on this piece so that the line up with the aperture on the other piece.
  • Now fill the body of the shaker frame with some sequins.
  • Then attach the solid back to the back of the camera.

Now you are ready to decorate your card!  That’s always the fun part for me.

Create your own embellishment by layering the Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board witch over the laser cut pumpkin.  I treated the pumpkin with Seth Apter Taos Sunset Baked Enamel.

A Peek Inside

Create a little  inside the easel.  Then die cut a few of the tabbed photo mounts that come in the kit.  Tuck these into a decorative little folio and store in the pocket.  This is the perfect place to add some pics of your favorite ghouls and goblins.

Be sure to pop over to Becca’s Blog to see how she used this clever APG Club Kit.  And if you would like to learn more about the Amazing Paper Grace Club Kit, please click HERE.

Masquerade Halloween Photo Wallet Tutorial

Authentique Masquerade Halloween Photo Wallet Tutorial by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Authentique Masquerade Halloween Photo Wallet Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Or maybe I should say “boo” because today I’m sharing an Authentique Paper Masquerade Halloween Photo Wallet Tutorial.  You’ve seen this design HERE and HERE, but because I had so many requests for a tutorial, I’ve made it again.  This photo wallet is a fairly quick and easy make.  It’s also incredibly versatile. Just change out your papers to match the theme and you’re on your way!

The video tutorial provides you with all the measurements and information you need, so I’ll just whet your appetite with some photos and a tip or two.  Then you can pop on over to my YouTube Channel to watch the video tutorial.

Tips, Tricks and Details

Create a spooky spiderweb layer with an Amazing Paper Grace Doily Round.  First, die cut the background from Authentique Spectrum Orange Blossom Cardstock.  Then cut the doily overlay from Black Jack Spectrum Cardstock.  This layer makes a great visual backdrop for the shaker frame.

Rows of messy stitching help to frame the card front.  First, layer Black Jack, Orange Blossom and Masquerade papers together.  Remember to only put a dab of adhesive in the center of each layer.  Otherwise your sewing machine will bog down in the adhesive as you stitch.

Paint a white resin frame with Black Chalk Ink.  Let it dry a second or two, then gently wipe the paint back to  create an aged, worn finish.  Then brush lightly with Little Birdie Metallic Wax (linked below) for a perfectly petrified finish.  Do you spot the wee spiders perching on the flowers?    Those are from Reneabouquets, as are the spooktacular spider webs in the corners of the frame.

I’ll show you how I finished the Happy Halloween Beautiful Board Sentiment in the video.  Adding the little silver bat charm  is a fun addition.  For the bow, top candy corn ribbon with a bit of black micro gingham and an old Prima flower from my stash.

A Peek Inside

Here’s a stylishly belted photo cascade built inside the folio.

Flaps and pockets…

…tip in pages…

and sneaky secret side pockets with mini folios await you within, if you dare!

And there is lots more room for photos in the trifold folio and wallet photo that are tucked inside the bottom pocket!

Let’s Get Our Halloween Craft On!

If this bewitching photo wallet has your fingers itching to create, then you are in luck!  Simply follow along in this video tutorial.  You’ll find a linked supply list below the post.

I hope you have as much fun making this project as I had designing it!

Man in the Moon Masculine Milestone Birthday Card

Man in the Moon Masculine Milestone Birthday Card with RRR and Masquerade

Hello, Friends!  What do you say we make a Masculine Milestone Birthday Card today?  Our youngest son, my baby, turns 30 this week!  What?  How did that happen so fast!  No big milestone birthday bash this year, but I did want to make him a special card to commemorate the occasion.  As I was creating Halloween cards with the Masquerade collection, my eye fell on this whimsical image of these dapper gents partying on a crescent moon.  Perfect image for a son that you love to the moon and back!

The Process

This whimsical creation comes together in a jiffy, too.  The basic card recipe can be adapted  for use with any theme, any paper collection for any season.  Since this is fall, I chose to use fall colors.  Here’s the step by step:

  • Begin by creating a 5 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ top fold card from kraft cardstock.
  • Next, mat a 5 1/4″ square of the orange tartan on a 5 1/2″ square of black cardstock.
  • Now mat a 2 1/2″ x 5 1/8″ scrap of the reverse pattern on a 2 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ panel of black CS and adhere along the left hand side of the tartan.  Leave about a 1/2″ margin.
  • Then die cut the Tim Holtz Timekeeper clock from black cardstock.  Back it a circle of the argyle print from the Masquerade 6×6 pad. Adhere in the center of the card.
  • Die cut some stitched stars and the milestone numbers from copper foil paper and patterned paper.
  • Next fussy cut the men in the moon twice.  Layer together with dimensionals between them to create real depth.
  • Tuck the largest star behind the image.  Then adhere the image to the center of the clock.

  • Use an embossing folder to add texture to the numbers.  Then tap with Ground Espresso Distress Paint.  Let it dry for a few seconds, then wipe away the excess to create the look of hammered copper.
  • Add copper brads along the side.
  • Color the silver charm with a mix of Ginger Alcohol Ink.  Place it over the smallest star, securing with a foam dimensional.
  • The perfect finishing touch is a simple bow tied with Brown and Cream Gingham Ribbon from  Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Top the bow off with a haberdashery button for the win.
A Peek Inside

Finish the inside with papers and images from the Manly collection. Joel is a runner, so I had to fit that running shoe pattern into his card somewhere.   I tucked a little gift wallet inside the “Man Card” pocket.  (This image actually kinda looks like our handsome son!  Way to go, Authentique Paper!)  Add a panel of stamped birthday wishes to finish the interior of the card.

Simple.  Manly, Festive.  Not cute.  Whimsical.  I think this will work nicely for our son!  Joel has been a constant source of delight to our family.  As the youngest, he was doted on from the day he was born.  All of his siblings watched over him, protected him and spoiled him …just enough…not too much!  He’s industrious, intelligent and thoughtful.  And no, I’m not the least bit biased.  You’d feel that way about him, too, if you met him!

So there you go…an easy card “recipe” for a masculine milestone birthday.  Who knew that Halloween paper would work so well for a birthday card!
