Authentique Nightfall Halloween Banner for Really Reasonable Ribbon
Hello, Friends! Today I have a spooktacular Authentique Nightfall Halloween Banner made with Really Reasonable Ribbon to share with you. I’ve combined ribbons from the September Ribbon Club with other Boo-tiful Halloween Ribbons from RRR. Banners are loads of fun to make, add a festive feel to any holiday and can be used from year to year. This makes the time investment well worthwhile. There is no tutorial for this project, but I will share lots of tips and tricks that will help you make your own version.
Halloween Banner Basics
- Begin by cutting the individual pennants for your banner. Sometimes I use a die for this process, but this time I hand cut the pennants..
- First, create a template from a piece of 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ medium weight chipboard.
- Find the mid-point on the bottom edge of the chipboard. For these pennants, that was 2 1/4″. Make a small pencil mark here.
- Now measure up 1 1/2″ from the midpoint and make another small mark.
- Use your ruler and a pencil to draw a line from each corner to this mark. Then trim out to form the pennant shape.
- Now you can trace this template onto your designer paper.
- Add 2 ATC banner tags on each end of the banner as accents. These hang upside down. Use the ATC die to cut covers for each of these pennants.
Stitching the Halloween Banner
Stitch the pennants to a long piece of ribbon. I used 1 1/2″ Black Silky Crush Ribbon.
- First, space the pennants and ATC tags out on your work surface.
- Cut the ribbon so that you have about a 4″ overhang on each side of the pennants.
- Secure the banners to the ribbon with binder clips, paper clips or clothespins.
- The pennants lie on TOP of the ribbon.
- Add a row of orange ric rac across the top of the pennants.
- When everything is situated the way you like it, stitch all the way across the top of the banner, removing the binder clips as you stitch..
- Then stitch all the way across the bottom edge of the ribbon.
- Tie ribbon between the pennants. Leave the ribbon long and just tie a square knot.
- Top each knot with a burlap string bow and a button.
Ribbon and Flower Clusters
Tie Halloween Gingham bows for the corners on each end of the ribbon.
Create a bow cluster with die cut skeleton leaves and flowers.
Creating Layers
Each pennant in the banner follows the same “recipe.”
- The first layer is a dark pennant with a small, not too busy print.
- Then cut a 4″ x 4″ square of patterned paper.
- Top this layer with a die cut doily.
- Next, mat a 3″ x 4″ image on black cardstock. Back with foam or waste chipboard to create more depth and dimension.
- The center pennant is dressed up with clusters of die cut leaves, a die cut clock and a framed sticker image. But you still have the basic layers mentioned above.
