Authentique Shamrock Saint Patrick’s Day Home Decor: Lucky Banner and Wallhangings

Hello, Friends!  Do you decorate your home for Saint Patrick’s Day?  My grandgirls loooove the holiday, because each year a “leprechaun” visits them and commits all kinds of shenanigans!  These Authentique Shamrock Saint Patrick’s Day Home Decor ideas should add to the fun.

Banners are such a fun way to decorate your home for the holidays.  They are festive, fun to display and pretty easy to make, too.  This Lucky Banner is made with Authentique’s Shamrock paper collection and Emerald Collection Stickers.  It measures about 3 feet from end to end.  Isn’t it just gloriously green?

While I love to make banners, they are so hard to photograph.  I made a super short video so that you can see the details better.

Look at that dapper Leprechaun!  The large pennants are 3.5″ wide x 4.5″ tall.  There are 3 of these, interspersed with smaller 2″ x 3″ pennants.

I used a banner die to cut dark green cardstock.  Next, I matted the die cut pennant on a larger piece of lighter green cardstock.  Then I hand cut the patterned papers to fit the pennant base. Finally, I stitched the focal image to the pennant on my sewing machine.  To embellish, I used hand made rosettes, vintage buttons, white paper flowers and ivory burlap string.  The pennants are attached to the ribbon with mini clothespins.

I’ve added sentiment stickers and metal keys.

These small banner sentiments and images are from the sticker sheet.  Aren’t they great?

While you are decorating, why not add some smaller wall hangings to the mix?  These 6″ x 6″ shaped chipboard cards are made with retired Crafty Secrets Sweet Chips.  I did a quick internet search for them, and found you can still get them on EBay.  You might also be able to find a similar SVG cut file online as well.

I love the sentiments in this collection!

To make this mini file folder, I added the sticker to a piece of cardstock that was twice its height.  Then I trimmed around it and added papers  to the inside.  This would be a great place for the leprechauns to leave a little treat!

Of course, I had to make one for an Irish Lad, too!

Working with this collection is an Irish girl’s dream come true.  Especially in the gloomy month of February!  All this green makes my heart want to sing!  Each of these 5″ x 5″ top fold cards uses the same basic “recipe.”  This means, you can make a stack of cards in a very short amount of time.  Just cut all your panels, die cut your embellishments and make your own assembly line!

I broke out some dies to make these festive rosettes and ribbon banners.  Make a whole stack of them before you start, then you can zip right through the creative process.

You can give each card its own unique feel simply by altering the focal image and the placement of the embellishments a bit.

So are you ready to get your craft on?  I’ve prepared a video tutorial for you.  In it, we will learn how to quickly and easily build a pocket card base.  We will decorate the interior of the card, and build the little wallet that tucks into the pocket.  Then we’ll decorate the card front together.  I think you’re going to be surprised at how quickly and easily these cards come together.

One quick note: for some reason, I got it into my crazy head that the name of this collection was Emerald.  It is not.  It is SHAMROCK.  So whenever you hear me say “Emerald” wag your finger at me and say, “Shamrock, Kathy!  Shamrock!”  I apologize for the glitch!

You’ll find a linked supply list for the products I’ve used at the end of this post.  Now get out your notebook and pencil, because class is in session!  Enjoy!

If I’ve shared some tips and tricks that you can use in your own crafty adventures, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
