Bee Themed Folio with Your Creative Studio and Reneabouquets and Unboxing Video

Hello, Friends!  I began work on this Bee Themed Folio last month just as I was starting to come down with a summer cold that dragged on and on.  (I’m all better now, thanks!)  Because I did not feel like working, I packed the project back into the box of goodies from Your Creative Studio and moved it off my desk.  I found it a few days ago while cleaning the studio, and decided to finish working on it.  So I’m here today to share both the unboxing video and a quick little project share.

Your Creative Studio-March Subscription Box-Bee Themed Folio-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design-

Here’s the finished folio.  It’s made with kraft cardstock, burlap panels, papers from the YCV March Bee box and a few goodies from Reneabouquets.  It’s much prettier than this photo shows.  I think perhaps this shade of yellow is difficult for the camera lens to balance.  It measures 5 3/4″ x 8 1/2″ and has 4 folded sections inside.

TIP:  Burlap is easier to work with if you attach it to iron on interfacing from the fabric store.  Then it stitches up like a dream.

A Peek Inside

I designed the folio to serve as a sort of desk companion.  There’s room for a photo or two, but mostly it contains notecards, these cute sunflower sticky notes, pockets, envelopes and a few surprises.

This simple note card set makes a lovely gift.  I’ve wrapped them with a belly band and added one of the cute bee stickers from the YCV box.

Each notecard is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.  Paper panels from the YCV box are stitched onto brown cardstock, then matted on cream cardstock.  The inside has a cream cardstock panel that I stamped with the cute honey jar stamp.

Flip Pages

The fourth panel in this folio is a 4″ flip page.  The paper panels and stamps are from the box.  These would also make beautiful, simple note cards.  A belly band holds a bunch of goodies in place on the 2nd panel.

The back side of the flap page is a sweet little kinetic waterfall featuring the 3×3 paper squares from the box.  Buzzing bees adorn the pocket on the 3rd panel, which I have filled with a decorated envelope (product packaging) and a scratch pad.

Here’s a little peek at the sweet bookmark, mini note card and storage envelopes I tucked into this desk companion folio.  You’ll see more in the short video tour below.

If you’d like to see all the goodies that came in the March box and take a better look at the desk companion folio, I hope you’ll enjoy this video.

That’s all for me today, friends.  I have company coming in this weekend, so I need to go do some cooking and cleaning.

Sweet as Honey Bee Themed Card

Country Craft Creations Bee House Reneabouquets Bee Hive by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

Sweet as Honey Bee Themed Card

Hello, Friends!  Just popping in very quickly today with this Sweet as Honey Bee Themed card made with Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Summer is in full swing, and the honeybees are working overtime in our gardens.  How thankful I am for these industrious creatures.  So today’s post is dedicated to our friends the bees who make sweet honey for us to enjoy.

Do you ever use your ribbons to create a border on your cards and layouts?  I love the texture, color and pattern that layered ribbons add.  For this card I topped Daffodil Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon with Bold Yellow Check Ribbon from the July Ribbon Club Assortment.  They complement the Country Craft Creations Bee House papers perfectly, don’t you think?  Everything about this card makes me happy, happy, happy!

Bees, Bows, Blossoms and the Hive

Here’s a neat trick for using up little snips of ribbon.  First, tie a loopy bow from Daffodil Satin.  Then cut fishtail banners on the ends of small piece of Bold Yellow Plaid.  Next, fold the ribbon in half and adhere it on top of the big bow.  Tuck in some natural burlap string and a button to finish the bow cluster.  Isn’t it pretty?

Now create a scene with a Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board Sugar Bee Hive, Lemon Blossom Honeybee, and honeycomb background.  Pop these elements up on foam tabs to add lots of depth and dimension to the composition.

Add another pop of color with Little Birdie Wendy Boho Vibes flowers.  Then spatter a little diluted Gathered Twigs Distress Ink over the card to lend that organic, botanical shabby chic finish we all love so much!

A Peek Inside

Turn  your card into a gift by adding  a little tea wallet and honey stick to the interior.  I love it when a card doubles as a gift, don’t you?

I hope you are all enjoying some lazy days this summer.  I’ve been busy as a bee in my studio, working on a big reveal that I’ll share here tomorrow.  You won’t want to miss it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Really Reasonable Ribbon July 2021 Blog Hop

PhotoPlay Tulla and Norbert Sweet as Honey Mini Album by Kathy Clement Photo 01

Tulla & Norbert Sweet as Honey MIni Album for the Really Reasonable Ribbon July 2021 Blog Hop

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon July 2021 Blog Hop!  You should be coming  here from Ginny’s fabulous blog. This month we are playing with the  Sizzlin’ Summer Ribbon Club Assortment.

The summer vibe is strong in this vibrant collection of ribbons.  Yellow Bold Checked Plaid and Jasmine Delicate Stitched Satin ribbons are the perfect playmates for this whimsical mini album.  The adorable papers are from Photoplay Paper’s Sweet as Honey collection. Let’s take a closer look at  how I used these ribbons in this project.

Gnome Tweet Gnome Shaker

I love to use ribbons as a closure on my mini albums.  It’s pretty, it’s quick and it’s easy!  Here’s how to do it:

  • First, find the center point on the front of your mini album.
  • Next, wrap 1/2″ Scor-Tape from the front edge, over the spine and all the way to the back edge of the album.  Be sure to leave about 1 6″ overhang on each end so you can tie a pretty bow.
  • Now, adhere the Jasmine Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon over the Scor-Tape.  Burnish in place to make sure it grips well.
  • Then, repeat this step with 1/4″ Scor-Tape.  Place the Scor-Tape in the center of the Jasmine Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon.
  • Now, adhere the 3/8″ Yellow Bold Check Ribbon over the Jasmine Ribbon.  This time you will only leave about 2 inches hanging over the sides.
  • Finish the closure by tying knots in the ends of the yellow ribbon.  Now you can tie a bow with the Jasmine ribbon.
The Bow Cluster

Use your Bow-it-All Tool to tie a triple loop bow with the Jasmine Ribbon.  Then adhere this next to the shaker frame using a hot glue gun.  Next, tie a double loop bow with the Yellow Bold Check ribbon.  Adhere this right on top of the knot in the Jasmine bow.  Top it off with a fancy button.

The Spine

Do you love dangles on a spine as much as I do?  These are also easy to create.  Wrap the spine with a long piece of the Yellow Bold Check Ribbon.  Tie a square knot at the top, then trim the tails.  Next, string a series of charms on mini vintage safety pins and secure the pin through the knot.  Then top it off with a small Jasmine bow and button.

A Quick Peek Inside

Because it’s so much easier to see how an album like this works in a video, I’ve prepared a short tour for you on YouTube.  I hope you enjoy!

Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace Vignette Floral Mason Jar Shaker Card by kathy Clement Photo 01

Spellbinders March 2021 Club Kits Blog Hop:  Bee Happy Mason Jar Shaker Card

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Spellbinders March 2021 Club Kits Blog Hop!  You should be coming here from Jennifer’s lovely blog.  I have a serious crafty crush on this month’s Amazing Paper Grace Mini Vignette Floral Mason Jar Die Set.  First, I collect vintage Mason Jars.  Secondly, I adore shaker cards.  And then there are the lovely Cinch and Go flowers that come with this set.  Ooh la la! So the minute I took this lovely little die out of the packaging, I  knew I would be shaking things up in my studio.

Bee Happy Mason Jar Shaker Card

It’s hard not to be happy when you look at this fresh as a daisy card.  Here’s how it came together:

  • First, create a 5″ x 7″ kraft card base with a 1/2″ top fold spine.
  • Next, cut a 4 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ panel of the daisy patterned paper from Carta Bella’s Flower Garden paper collection.
  • Then, layer on a 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ panel of pink check paper.
  • Now die cut a doily background using the largest Amazing Paper Grace Picot Petite Circle Die, *Linked in Supply List below.
  • Next, die cut the lacy flourishes using the die from the APG DOM kit.  Adhere these where the two patterned papers meet.
  • Fussy cut some little seed packets and adhere in the top right corner.
  • Now adhere the doily and the mason jar.
  • Next die cut flower layers and leaves, shape, add stamens and adhere.
  • Finally, add a row of daisies, a bee hive button and ribbon to complete the card front.

How to Make a Mini Mason Jar Embellishment

If you’d like to learn how I turned the vignette die into a shaker embellishment I have a little video tutorial you can watch.

Be warned!  Making these little Mason Jar shakers is addictive!  I’ve made several this month.  You can see them HERE and HERE.

A Peek Inside

What a Wonderful World Bee Themed Card

My Minds Eye Gingham Gardens Bee Themed Card Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

What a Wonderful World Bee Themed Card Folio for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  It’s been a tough year hasn’t it?  But there are still plenty of reasons to say to ourselves, “What a Wonderful World!”  Flowers are still blooming, bees are still buzzing, the sky is still above us and the green grass is beneath our feet.  We have our families and our friends to cheer us, and goodness all around us if we choose to see it.

My passion for creating has never been stronger than during these dark days.  There’s something therapeutic and uplifting about creating beauty.  I’m more thankful than ever for this gift God dropped into my lap, the lovely friends I’ve made thanks to papercrafting and the joy these add to my life.  How about you?

Buzzing Bees,  Blooming Flowers, and Beautiful Ribbon

This 5″ x 7″ x 1″ card folio is one of my famous “Tea Party in a Box” cards.  Bees are a favorite theme, so I paired up some gorgeous bee images and designer papers from My Mind’s Eye Gingham Gardens with Silky Tan Satin  with a Grosgrain Edge Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Top that bodacious bow with a little natural burlap string to keep things looking organic.

Lots of texture and dimension make this card extra special!

Layer in some banner flags and a grid die cut with the Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace June Die of the Month.  So many luscious layers!

A Peek Inside

Open the card to get the party started!  Create a cuffed pocket to hold a trio of little tags.

Top the tags with pink burlap string and some pretty charms.  Add stamped sentiments, a bee stamp and fussy cut bees to keep with the card theme.

The large box pocket holds a handmade bookmark topped with more ribbon and a key charm.  Tuck in a vintage silver demitasse spoon, honey stick, and other treats to create a party in a box.

And of course there has to be tea!  Just for fun, I’ve tucked in a little wooden honey dipper.  Isn’t it cute?

Like all of you, I’ve had my ups and downs during the course of this year.  I have made a real effort to focus on gratitude and good thoughts.  That seems to keep things “humming” along!  My prayer for each of you is that you will experience joy today…and every day!

Thanks for stopping by!
