Little Birdie Boho Dreams Secret Summer Garden Card

Little Birdie Boho Dreams Bold Butterfly Garden Double Gatefold Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design

Little Birdie Boho Dreams Secret Summer Garden Card

Hello, Friends!  Will you join me for a stroll through my Little Birdie Boho Dreams Summer Garden?  This double gatefold style card is bursting with the saturated colors of summertime! The chipboard gate on this 6″ x 6″ double gatefold card looks like the entry to a secret garden filled with vibrant blooms, sweet berries and flirty butterflies.

Rub the primed chipboard gate with Little Birdie’s Silver Glitz Metallic Wax to give it an aged appearance.  Then fussy cut elements from the Boho Dreams 12×12 and 6×6 paper packs to create a dimensional floral wreath in the center of the gate.  A cool breeze carries the scent of the fragrant blooms and refreshes the spirit.  I would love to sit in this glorious garden forever!

A Peek Inside

So many beautiful colors and patterns wait for you inside this secret garden!

There’s even a secret pocket hidden inside the fold on the right hand side of the card.

This is a great place to tuck in a little bookmark or tag.

When the card is fully opened, you discover a sweet gift pocket.

Mat a 3″ x 4″ journal card on a 3 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ panel of the distressed orange dot pattern.  Score in half to form a little top fold tea wallet.  Cut a border strip, wrap it around the wallet and trim away the excess to form a belly band.  Now the card is also a gift.

I hope you enjoyed this stroll through my secret garden.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.  You’ll also find a linked supply list at the bottom of this post.

Bee Themed Joy Fold Card Tutorial with Craft Consortium Tell the Bees for Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends!  For this installment of Throwback Thursday I have prepared a Bee Themed Joy Fold Card Tutorial.  We’ll be working with Crafty Consortium’s “Tell the Bees” release from 2012.  But you can use whatever papers you have in your stash to make this  fun fold card.

Joy Fold Card Tutorial by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Tell the Bees Craft Consortium Photo 01

I’ve combined the patterned papers with digital ephemera from Polly’s Paper Studio, Ephemoire Digital Designs and Gecko Galz.

TIP:  File digital images by theme so that they are easy to find when you want to use them.  After I print out a sheet of digital images, I file the extras away in small bags that are sorted by theme and arranged alphabetically.  So all my digital bee images and ephemera are in a bag labeled “BEES.”

Bee Themed Joy Fold Card Tutorial: The Basics

Joy Fold cards have been around for as long as I’ve been making cards.  But I wanted a larger card base that could double as a mini folio.  To make this Joy Fold card we will be combining a 6×6 side fold card base with a 4 1/2″ x 5 12″ side fold card base.  Adhere the smaller card base inside the larger one to form a flap.  It’s a really simple card base to make, but affords lots of room for photos or decoration.

TIP: Enhance the lavender hues in the patterned paper with Lilac Seam Binding Ribbon and flowers.

Add bee images or photos  to the card panels.  You could fit quite a few photos in this mini folio.

You’ll learn how to create this sweet double pocket in the center panel.

This design gives you lots of room for images or photos and journaling.

This 4 1/4 ” x 5 1/4″ tea wallet fits neatly behind the top pocket.  You could easily convert this to a photo folio.

But I turned it into a tea wallet and note card.  A honey stick fits neatly into the card pocket to complete the gift.

The base for this card is 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  It folds flat for storage, and opens for display.

A few simple folds allow you to create this dynamic display.  I even found room to add in a little pocket and teeny tiny notecard.

Stamperia Sweet Christmas Carol Easel Card

Stamperia Pink Christmas Birds Christmas Carol Box Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

RRR December Blog Hop:  Stamperia Sweet Christmas Carol Easel Card

Hello, Friends!  Today I’m sharing this Stamperia Sweet Christmas Carol Easel Card for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from Karen’s sweet blog.

I’ve used the gorgeous Winter Carnival Ribbon Club Assortment to compliment the shabby chic papers.  Mineral Ice Checkerboard Satin Ribbon and Aqua Shell Print Satin Ribbon lend a frosty feel to the card design, making it perfectly wintry.  White Bead Berry Sprays are tucked in with my flowers to add lots of texture and sparkle.

Because this is an easel card, it folds for mailing and stands upright for display.

TIP:  When scoring your 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ card base, add in a 1/2″ spine to allow the easel portion of the card to close neatly over the easel stopper.

Stamperia Sweet Christmas Carol Easel Card: A Peek Inside

It’s easy to add a pocket to the interior of an easel card.  Simply cut your designer paper layer about 2 1/2″ longer than the height of the base.  Score along the bottom and fold.  Create gussets for the sides and then adhere to the base.

You can add a gift card pocket on one of the upper folded sections as well.  Here, i die cut the Infinity Border from both blue and ivory cardstock.  Then I adhered just the sides and the bottom to the card base.

Tuck images from the cut apart pages of the collection inside the pocket.

This folio is simply folded paper with a little journal card glued to the inside.  But it’s a great resting place for a tea bag or other small treat.

On With the Hop!

Now hop on over and see what paper pretties the lovely Linsey has in store for you.  Be sure to visit all the blogs in the hop, then finish up at the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog where you will answer Bonnie’s question of the month.  This will enter you into the drawing for your very own Ribbon Club Assortment.

If you haven’t subscribed to the RRR Club yet, now is a great time to join.  Santa is always looking for just the right gift for us crafty girls!  You can drop him a hint and let him know that you’d love to receive the Ribbon Club Assortment every month of the New Year!  Learn how to sign up HERE.

Authentique Calendar Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Folio

Authentique Calendar Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Folio

Hello, Friends!  It’s my favorite season of the year: the thankful season!  Today I’m sharing  a lovely little Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Folio made with Authentique Paper’s brand new Calendar Collection.  It’s my contribution to the Group Post over on the Authentique Blog.

Authentique Calendar Collection November Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design

This little 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ folio is tiny, but mighty!  Thanks to the double z-fold design, there’s loads of room to add paper pretties, photos, and journaling entries inside.

There are 10 panels on this card, making it the perfect vehicle for the new Calendar Collection.  I love the fact that the collections come with color matched cardstock so that you have everything you need to make a beautiful card, folio, or layout.  It’s amazing!

Double Z Fold cards are super easy to make!  You can find a tutorial for making the base HERE.

You have to love the fact that these cards open out to a width of over 19″!  Wouldn’t that be pretty on your Thanksgiving buffet table?

Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Folio: What’s in the Pocket?

Of course, I added a pocket to the folio!  Don’t I add a pocket to everything?  It’s kind of my signature move!  This one is made with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ panel of kraft cardstock. Score it at 4 1/4, 8 1/2″ and then trim and fold to form a little pocket inside.

Tuck some tags and paper pretties into the pockets.

TIP:  Die cut a little decorative piece for the pocket flap.  Then use the negative cut as a second pocket.  Back the empty space where the label was with designer paper, then adhere the sides and bottom.  Instant tea bag pocket, and oh, so cute!

Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Folio: The Flip Side

Don’t forget to decorate the flip side of this folio!  You have lots of room to decorate.  Use the center panel as a photo spot.  Just be sure to adhere only the bottom edge of the little sentiment panel to the card base.  Then the photo can be tucked behind it.

And don’t forget to add a spot to write down those precious memories or a special greeting.  This lightly distressed panel is the perfect spot for that!

Wishing you a grateful heart every day of the year!
