Carta Bella Christmas Box Card Tutorial

Carta Bella Christmas Box Card Tutorial for Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends!  Today’s Throwback Thursday is a Carta Bella Christmas Box Card Tutorial.  It’s a mash up made with 3 different Carta Bella Christmas collections: Farmhouse Christmas, Christmas Delivery and Christmas Market.  The color palette of these 3 collections blended together perfectly, so I was able to use up a bunch of little scraps on this long and lean box style card.

Home for the Holidays Inspiration

As I was organizing my scraps, I came across this cute border strip of Christmas houses.  Since it was long and skinny, I decided to make it the focal on this 8 1/2″ x 4″ box style card.   My paper scraps, however, were not that long.  So I had to innovate.

TIP: Join 2 complementary patterns of paper to create a designer look.  The black tartan panel is 6″ x 3″.  So I finished out the width of the card base with a 1 1/2″ x 3″ panel of a script pattern. The end result is pretty sharp looking.

TIP: Make your focal panel stand out from the crowd.  Mat the top and bottom edge on solid cardstock.  Then back it with dimensionals.  Height equals prominence.  Think about how a king’s throne always sits higher than its surroundings.  That’s so he stands out in a crowd. The same principle holds true in papercrafting.

The Shaker Element

I generally make the shaker element the focal point of my card.  But for this card, I turned the shaker element into the embellishment.  Here’s how.

  • First, punch the center out of a chipboard frame.
  • Next, back the frame with clear cardstock.  I use Dries Clear Adhesive for this task, but you can use scor-tape, red line tape or any other strong adhesive that dries clear and goes down neatly.
  • Now adhere 3 layers of 1/4″ foam tape to the back side of the shaker frame.  You will need to angle the corners  so that the foam does not show.
  • Next, place the filler mix in the center of the area where you plan to adhere the frame.  I used these adorable Sprinkletz to fill mine.  (Supply list is linked below the post.)
  • Then line up the frame and press it into place.  You only get one chance to do this, so make sure that you are centered and straight.
  • Finally, punch out the Christmas Wellies from the chipboard sheet.  Back with foam tape (height=prominence, remember?).  Adhere to the right side of the frame.  Dress up with a little bow, tiny jingle bells and a bit of greenery.
A Peek Inside

This is why I love this card style!  It makes the perfect base for a little Christmas gift!

You can tuck gift card wallets in the top pocket and treats in the bottom.

Carta Bella Box Card Tutorial #2: The Vertical Box Card

This card base can also be turned vertically for a totally different look.

Die cut an Eileen Hull Mitten from scraps of Christmas Delivery papers and from chipboard.  Then adhere the patterned paper mitten to the chipboard. Next,  adhere a Reneabouquets Mini Snowman to a chipboard element from Farmhouse Christmas.  Create a border on the bottom of the card by layering ribbon together and wrapping around the base.

Now you can fill the side pocket with a Tea Party in a Box.  It’s another perfect little Christmas gift!

Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Flower Box Card: Sweet Summer Blooms

My mind went straight to colorful geraniums and petunias spilling over the edge of flower boxes.  And that’s how this flower box card came to life.  You all know how much I love pockets and tags.  So I decided to put both items front and center on this fun flower box styled card.

Create a faux flower box then fill it with adorable little tags.  Top the tags with Apple Green Swiss Dots Satin Ribbon  and Lime/Bright Pink Sherbet Swirl Grosgrain Ribbon from the Club Assortment.  Then tie on an itty bitty key with a little Natural Burlap String.

Mount the tag pocket on a larger box pocket.  Create cute borders on the box pocket and at the top of the card with the same Lime/Bright Pink Sherbet Ribbon.

Create a little snacky picnic in the box pocket by dressing up some treats with more ribbon and designer paper.

A Peek Inside

The inside of the card is simply decorated with more designer paper, blank sentiment panel and a tag and pocket combo.

I Must Have Flowers Always and Always

Must Have Flowers Carta Bella Farmhouse Card Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

I Must Have Flowers Always and Always: Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Card Folio

Hello Friends!  I Must Have Flowers always and always!  Do you feel that way?  I’m not much of a gardener, but I do love pretty floral papers and paper flowers on my projects.  This sweet little springtime card is made with the new Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Papers and some beautiful rolled roses from Little Birdie Crafts.

I Must Have Flowers…and Pretty Pretty Ribbons, too!

Light Coral Diamond Satin Ribbon is absolutely dreamy with this paper collection.  I’ve paired it up with some Iridescent Metallic String in the bow cluster. The way this string reflects the colors that surround it is absolutely magical!

And how about those flowers?  These lovely Layla Pastel Palette blooms are so pretty!  Did you know you can alter your Little Birdie Flowers?  First, I gently tapped the edges with a little Gathered Twigs Distress ink.  Then I brushed on some Stamperia Gold Dew Glamour Gel to add a touch of sparkle.  You can also brush them with Perfect Pearls or any mica based powder.  The subtle shading and shine adds to the vintage feel of this pretty card.

I Must Have Flowers: A Peek Inside

Turn this pretty card into a gift by adding a couple of pockets on the inside.  Fill the top pocket  with a color matched tea bag, note card, and decorated honey stick.

Decorate a pretty bookmark with Coral Rose Swiss Dots Satin and Petal Peach Quatrefoil Satin Ribbon.  Stitch the paper bookmark pieces onto some canvas to make a  soft bookmark that will last a long time.  This is a stamp that I’ve had in my stash for a very long time. Sadly, it has been discontinued.  But you could always print the sentiment out on your computer and add to the bookmark that way.

I hope I’ve shared some tips, tricks and ideas you can use in your own crafty adventures.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Tall and Skinny Card for the RRR Hop

Hello, Friends!  Today I have a Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Tall and Skinny Card for the Really Reasonable Ribbon March Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from Karen’s lovely blog.  We are showcasing the gorgeous Garden Delights Ribbon Club Assortment this month.  If you love spring flowers and gardening, these ribbons will make your heart happy!

Since I had just purchased these lovely Carta Bella Farmhouse Market papers, I decided to work with the coral toned ribbons from the collection.  They are a perfect match up for the saturated hues and floral patterns.

Ribbon can be used in so many different ways when you are designing a card.  Coral Rose Swiss Dot Satin Ribbon acts as a border along the base of this 4″ x 8 1/2″ cut away card.

The same ribbon  looks amazing tucked into the bow cluster with some cream flowers and iridescent metallic string.

Wrap the same iridescent metallic string around the top of the card to add a touch of shine.  Then top with some flat back pearls to add a bit of elegance.

The inside of this card is pretty simple.  Add a sentiment from the ephemera pack.  Then make a quick and easy side pocket to hold a note card and a treat.

Mat the 4″ x 6″ journal card on cream cardstock so you can write a note on the back.  And you knew there had to be tea tucked in somewhere, didn’t you?

On With the Hop!

The next stop on your hop is Cherry’s lovely blog.   Hop on over to see what crafty goodness she has cooked up for you.  Then finish the hop over on the RRR Blog.  You will find a complete blog hop list there, as well as Bonnie’s Question of the Month.  Be sure to answer that, so your name will be entered into the drawing to win your very own Garden Delights Ribbon Club Assortment.

Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Live True Card

Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Live True Card for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  I’m inviting spring to burst upon us with this sweet and simple Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Live True Card.  The sentiment on the front is from one of my favorite authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder. These are wise words and true, and the older I get, the more I believe them!  These pretty Farmhouse Market papers are a perfect match up for the RRR March Ribbon Club Assortment.  How great is that?

This 6×6 card features loads of paper layers, a die cut doily, pearls and posies.  If that doesn’t entice springtime, then I don’t know what will!  Pretty Coral Rose Satin Swiss Dots Ribbon works perfectly as a border and really helps the sentiment panel to pop.

Carta Bella Farmhouse Market All Occasion Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Light Coral Diamond Satin makes for a pretty bow cluster when paired up with these flowers that I found in my stash. (retired Petaloo).

The inside of the card is sweet and simple, too.  A lovely floral panel for writing a note covers the bottom half of the card.  And a color matched tea bag is nested inside a small double pocket on the top.  To make the double pocket, adhere the ends of the ephemera card on the sides of the note card pocket.  So easy, but so pretty!

Sometimes, simple is just the ticket!  I hope this Carta Bella Farmhouse Market Live True card has some simple tips, tricks and inspiration that you can use in your crafty adventures.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
