Stars and Stripes Forever Independence Day Decor

Stars and Stripes Forever Independence Day Decor with Authentique “Heroic”

Hello, Friends!  It’s officially summer and that means the 4th of July is right around the corner.  If you are hosting a cookout celebration, you might want to start thinking about a little Independence Day decor.  With that in mind, I dipped into the gorgeous new “Heroic” collection from Authentique papers and put together some fancy fold cards that can double as home decor.

The great thing about fancy fold cards is that they are a a natural for home decor.  Because I wanted the option to use this card as home decor, I made the base to measure 7″ long x 5″ tall.  (You can find the YouTube video tutorial for this card base HERE.)

Die cut stitched stars make me think of 4th of July fireworks and add a great sense of motion to this card.  I’ve used 12×12 Details stickers from the Heroic Collection to add extra detail.  The blue stars are cut from foil paper for a little extra shimmer.

Wouldn’t this make a great table centerpiece on your Independence day table?

The vintage patriotic gal on this large panel on the right is not just another pretty face.

Stars and Stripes Center Step Card

This dynamic star studded step out card would also look great on a 4th of July table.  I used a Cheery Lynn die to cut the card base from kraft cardstock, then decorated it with an assortment of 12×12 and 6×6 Heroic papers.

Red, white and blue Petaloo flowers anchor the left hand corner of the card along with a multi-layered patriotic star.  Double mat the ticket stickers to give them more presence on the card.

And, the card folds flat for storage, or for mailing.

I love to celebrate the 4th with our family.  We have a long standing tradition of enjoying a meal of chili dogs, potato salad, and coleslaw. The grand finale to the picnic is homemade brownies and ice cream.  Honestly, is there anything more fun than watching the sky come alive at night with brilliant fireworks?  I can hardly wait!

I hope I’ve shared some ideas, tips and tricks with you today that you can use in your own crafty adventures.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Celebrate Fall Step Card for Cheery Lynn Designs

Hello, Friends!  I have had so much fun this month serving as a guest designer over at Cheery Lynn Designs. For my last Guest Designer project I used an amazing die to create an adorable Celebrate Fall Step Card.

fall-step-card-for-cheery-lynn-designs-fall-blessings-by-kathy-clement-product-by-carta-bella-photo-1Step cards usually require a ton of measuring and careful cutting and scoring and folding.  But not this step card!  I simply folded my paper in half, placed the Cheery Lynn Designs Step Card Bundle Set #3 die on the fold and ran it through my Big Shot.  Wow!  The die cuts and scores everything for you.  All you have to do is fold on the creases and BAM!  Instant step card.  You can use the die to make center step cards.  By adjusting the  placement of the die, you can make all different kinds of step cards in just a few seconds.

Yeah, I’m in love!

See all those pretty fall leaves, flower blossoms and stems? They are part of the bundle!   Die cut Wheat Heads and Tags 1 set  complete the design.  I can’t wait to make these with the grand girls!

I hope you all enjoy a safe, happy and sweet Halloween!

Carta Bella Fall Leaves Card for Cheery Lynn Designs

Fall Leaves Card for Cheery Lynn Designs Guest Designer Spot

Hello, Friends!  I have been having so much fun playing with my Cheery Lynn Designs dies!  Today, I have a Fall Leaves Card made with Carta Bella Fall Blessings paper collections.

falling-leaves-card-for-cheery-lynn-fall-blessings-by-kathy-clement-product-by-carta-bella-photo-1I had such fun experimenting with various textures and materials this time, and to my delight, the Cheery Lynn dies cut through them all like buttah!  The Fall Leaves were die cut from corrugate, and then treated with mica sprays.  The little flourishes on either side of the sentiment panel are from the Pumpkin Patch die.

I wish I had some of these in my garden!

Mums and Pumpkins Card: Cheery Lynn Guest Designer

Time to Flourish Mums and Pumpkins Card: Cheery Lynn Guest DT

Hello, Friends!   There’s nothing prettier than a whole bunch of pumpkins paired up with pretty fall mums.  They are on display together everywhere at this time of year and they inspired the theme for today’s post. This Mums and Pumpkins Card is made with Cheery Lynn dies and Graphic 45 Time to Flourish paper.

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-4You wouldn’t think that purple and orange would be such good pals, but they look smashing on this mums and pumpkins card!  My designer pumpkins were die cut from patterned paper using the Fall Pumpkin Patch Die. I actually cut three sets of pumpkins: one from kraft paper to use as a base, then I paper pieced the patterned papers on top.

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-1But we said MUMS and pumpkins, didn’t we?  The Chrysanthemum Strip Die cuts 6 flower layers with one pass through the machine.  Again, I cut my flowers from patterned papers and then added a little flower soft to the centers.

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-3The bright orange doily was cut with the Ornament 1 die.  This is really heavy cardstock from Stampin Up, and the die is quite intricate, but it cut through the paper like buttah!

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-7And here’s the inside in all it’s fall glory!  More pumpkins and flourishes on the inside, just for fun!

I’m curious…what’s your favorite color mum?  I do love the purple ones, but I’m also very fond of the rust/yellow combination.  They all look great with pumpkins, though!

The Last Roses of Summer for Guest DT at Cheery Lynn Designs

The Last Roses of Summer Card:  Guest DT at Cheery Lynn Designs

Hello, Friends!  Summer is well and truly over for most of us.  Although I suspect we’ll still get a few days of Indian Summer before it’s all said and done, things have definitely turned toward fall here in North Carolina.  A few brave roses are still blooming, and they inspired me to create this Last Roses of Summer card for my guest designer spot at Cheery Lynn Designs.

last-roses-of-summer-stationers-desk-by-kathy-clement-for-cheery-lynn-designs-product-by-prima-and-cheery-lynn-photo-1 This was my first opportunity to play with Cheery Lynn dies and it was a complete pleasure!  These dies cut through paper, even heavy cardstock, “like buttah.”  For this romantic 5″ x 7″ side fold card I used the Large Rose Die, Medium Rose Die, Fall Leaves 8 piece Die, and Ornament 1 Die.

last-roses-of-summer-stationers-desk-by-kathy-clement-for-cheery-lynn-designs-product-by-prima-and-cheery-lynn-photo-4The roses were cut from Prima’s Stationer’s Desk paper collection.  I love to die cut flowers from patterned paper, as it adds instant depth and texture to the finished product.

last-roses-of-summer-stationers-desk-by-kathy-clement-for-cheery-lynn-designs-product-by-prima-and-cheery-lynn-photo-5The roses were shaped in all stages of blooming, from buds to full open blooms.  Because of this, I colored the backs of the petals as well as the fronts.

last-roses-of-summer-stationers-desk-by-kathy-clement-for-cheery-lynn-designs-product-by-prima-and-cheery-lynn-photo-3I needed some greenery in with my bower of roses, and these die cut fall leaves added so much lovely texture.  I love that the design is imprinted on them when they are die cut!  The Ornament 1 die makes a gorgeous doily layer.

last-roses-of-summer-stationers-desk-by-kathy-clement-for-cheery-lynn-designs-product-by-prima-and-cheery-lynn-photo-2Another sweet cluster of roses tied with sheer organza ribbon.  Be still my heart!

I’ll be guest designing with Cheery Lynn all this month, and I have lots more pretties to share with you!
