Frilly and Funkie Floral Infatuation: Sunflowers Mini Album with G45 Time to Flourish
Hello, Friends! It’s time for another fabulous challenge over at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Nancy is our hostess this time, and the theme is Floral Infatuation. Create any kind of vintage or shabby chic project where flowers are the focal point. With that in mind, I designed and created a Sunflowers Mini Album using Graphic 45’s Time to Flourish August papers. You’re invited to enjoy a tutorial and a video tour today. Let’s get started!
I adore sunflowers. This time of year, they are in full glory. Every time I see a field of these radiant blooms, my spirits are lifted and I am reminded to keep my face turned toward the sunshine and not the shadows. So I guess it was a natural for me to choose to make a sunflower mini album for this challenge.
Just look at this color palette: teal, yellow, gold, green…color me inspired! The album was created with a kraft cardstock base and decorated with the August papers from Graphic 45’s Time to Flourish Collection.
Time to Flourish was released with matching chipboard flowers,. It was fairly easy to alter these into bodacious sunflowers. Each blossom was carefully shaped, spritzed and inked.Teal and copper Czech bead were glued into the centers to mimic sunflower seeds. When everything looked “just right” I piled them onto the front of the sunflower mini album in a cluster of golden splendor.
Adding ivory burlap to the cover created an extra layer of texture. And I love the vintage metal findings from Graphic 45. To age them, I tapped them with Ranger Vintaj Patina and Moss.
Sunflowers here, there and everywhere!
Here is the first opening of the album. The side pocket contains a folder for photos., Pretty cut out images have been tucked into the belly band on the right hand side. A 4″ x 6″ photo can be mounted on the base, and more can be tucked under the belly band. Prima gold crackle accents were added with one of Tim’s mini stencils.
This square tag pulls out from the center pocket.
You can see that I filled the pockets of this sunflower mini album with all sorts of good things!
YouTube Video Tour of Sunflowers Mini Album
Because I find it hard to get a feel for the “flow” of a mini album through still photos, here’s a short YouTube video tour. It runs about 4 minutes.
How to Build the Base for the Sunflower Mini Album
You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? Well, I found that to be true when trying to write a step out tutorial for this album base. I finally gave in and built a second base while shooting a video.
That pretty much covers everything for me. Now it’s YOUR turn! Create your very own Floral Infatuation project and link it up on the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog before midnight EDT on Tuesday, September 6th.
The winner will earn the chance of a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.
I can’t wait to see what you make!
Thanks for stopping by!
