Petaloo Butterflies and Blossoms for Creativation (CHA)
Hello Friends! Happy New Year! Wow…did the holidays go by in a flash this year? I have all my Christmas stuff packed neatly away, and now I am looking forward to the next big event: Creativation (formerly known as CHA). I’m not going in person this year, but I created a trio of projects using Petaloo butterflies and blossoms. These will be displayed in the Petaloo booth during the convention, and I am so excited to share a sneak peek of them here with you today. All three are made with gorgeous Petaloo flowers and glorious Graphic 45 Nature Study papers.
Nature Study Tri-Fold Mini Album
This cluster of flowers, pearls and ribbon simply makes me want to swoon! The album is fairly small at just 5″ x 7″, but it has room inside for loads of photos and journaling, thanks to the folio design.
A pale yellow anemone is framed by cream and spice Petaloo flowers and Spring Berry Clusters. Do you see the blue butterfly that I framed inside a miniature Tim Holtz pocket watch frame? Adding bits of glitter, mica chips and chunky embossing powders to the frame lends lots of texture and shine to the bow cluster.
I used a fairly heavy hand when distressing the Nature Sketchbook papers. this added so much texture to the trio of images on the front of the album cover.
Inside the album, there is room for more than 2 dozen photos, which is amazing, given the album size. I achieved this by tucking eight 4″ x 6″ photo mounts behind a decorative belly band. Photos can be mounted on both sides of each photo mount. And there’s plenty of room to journal on the ephemera card, too. On the facing page, I used another beautiful journal image from the paper collection.
When the folio is fully opened, you really get a sense of how photo friendly it is. The center panel houses a double pocket with more journal cards and photo mounts.
The right hand panel holds a fun waterfall folio that will hold 4″ x 4″ photos.
There are 6 pages in the folio, and each one has either a belly band to hold photos, a pocket or a journaling spot.
Butterfly Tree Centerpiece
Now this was a fun project! I used a FloraCraft 4″ x 12″ green styrofoam cone as the base for my Butterfly Tree Centerpiece. I attached the base of the foam cone to an empty ribbon spool, then decked it out with dozens of paper rosettes, Petaloo Blossoms, Butterflies and vintage buttons.
These Darjeeling Garden Rosettes are gorgeous! They come in a host of colors, but I used just cream, spice and green on my tree.
Darjeeling butterflies add a fun, flirty element to the composition.
Petaloo Butterflies and Blossoms Banner
I wish you could see this banner in real life, because it is one of the prettiest I’ve ever made. It measured almost 5 feet from end to end and is just loaded with gorgeous Petaloo Butterflies and Blossoms! I just wish banners were not so hard to photograph!
These yellow Darjeeling Anemone just pop against the Nature Sketchbook papers! I used a lot of Darjeeling Cream Garden Rosettes in this piece, too. Petaloo flowers are so easy to alter! I sponged these cream rosettes with Mustard Seed Distress Ink to create yellow roses for the banner.
This center panel is decorated with a Graphic 45 Shabby Chic Ornate Door Pull.
First, I painted the door pull with two coats of Antique Linen Distress Paint. Then I distressed the edges a little with Sandpaper. Finally, I attached it to the pennant upside down, creating a little urn to hold beautiful Petaloo flowers. The interior is lined with green hydrangeas that are topped off with cream petite blossoms. You can see that I altered these with Distress Ink as well.
Fussy cut butterflies from the paper collection look great with Darjeeling butterflies from Petaloo. The lifted wings give the banner a feeling of movement and flight, which is very fun indeed!
So now you know what I’ve been working on over my Christmas break. I’m so honored that my work will decorate the Petaloo booth. I really have a very fun “job!”
Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you find yourself at CHA/Creativation, pop by the Petaloo booth so you can see these goodies in 3-D and living color. I know Petaloo has some fun surprises for their guests at the convention.
Thanks for stopping by!
