#SimplyG45 Time to Flourish Gift Card Set

#Simply G45 Time to Flourish Gift Card Set

Hello G45’ers!  You all know that I love to create elaborate layered cards.  But what you might NOT know is that I also create loads of very simple, quick to make cards.  These get tucked into my Etsy shop orders as a way to thank my customers for their business.  I also like to create card sets as birthday/Christmas gifts for friends and family. One of my friends had a birthday last week.  It just so happens that the monthly challenge at Graphic 45 is  #SimplyG45 .  So the

project I have to share with you today is a #SimplyG45 Time to Flourish Gift Card Set.

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Card Set by Kathy Clement Product by Graphic 45 Photo 01

This is a set of four 4.25″ x 5.5″ all occasion cards made with ONE sheet of Graphic 45’s gorgeous Time to Flourish Collection. (retired)   I tied them together with seam binding ribbon for a pretty (and simple) presentation.

What is #SimplyG45?

A #SimplyG45  project is supposed to cost less than $10 for all supplies.  It’s supposed to be easy to make, and be made in an hour or less.  And yes, I did manage to make a set of 4 lovely cards for under $10.  The final tally for all my supplies was a meager $9.41.  I did manage to make all 4 cards in an hour…but let me tell you…that second hand had me sweating!  LOL  Let’s take a look at how this sweet and simply #SimplyG45 Time to Flourish Gift Card Set.

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: The Supplies

To make this card set you will need:

  • 1 sheet of Time to Flourish August Cut Apart Paper
  • Time to Flourish Cardstock Flower Sheet
  • 4 sheets of Time to Flourish 6×6 Patterns and solids
  • 2 sheets of 8.5″ x 11″ ivory cardstock
  • 1/2 sheet each of yellow and soft blue 8.5″ x 11 Cardstock
  • some buttons
  • 2 yards of seam binding ribbon
  • Water Soluble ink to dye your ribbon (Optional…and I did not include this in the price of the project as ink is a staple that we all have on hand.  I also did not figure in the cost of my adhesive.)
#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set

TIP:  To make quick work of cardmaking, use an assembly line approach.  Keep most of your measurements consistent for all 4 cards.  Keep the embellishments simple and similar to one another for ease of assembly.  Here are the simple steps I followed to create these cards.

  • First, create cut two sheets of 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock in half.  I chose to cut my cardstock to measure 4.25″ x 11.  Then I scored it in half at 5.5″.  This gave me two top fold vertical cards and two side fold horizontal cards.  Lay each folded card base on your work surface.
  • Next, cut a sheet of yellow and a sheet of light blue cardstock in half.  Save the other halves for another day.  Trim cardstock to measure 4″ x 5.25″.  Lay one piece on top of each card base.
  • Now, select 4 sheets from the 6″ x 6″ Time to Flourish Patterns and Solids pad.  Cut each piece to measure 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.  Lay each piece on one of your card piles. Save the extra pieces to use as layering elements.
  • Then, cut the August Time to Flourish page apart.  Choose focal images and lay on each pile.
#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: Quick and Easy Flower Making

I love to make my own flowers…but it can take a LOT of time.  Using the Graphic 45 cardstock flowers is a very affordable way to add a lovely, custom embellishment to a project.  Here’s how I made these flowers.

  • Punch out 3 blue flower layers and about 7 yellow flowers from the cardstock sheet.  (For the yellow flowers, I opted to use the back side of the cardstock flowers.)
  • Lightly brush the edges of the petals with ink.  I used G45 Dark Cashmere Decades ColorBox Ink, but any water soluble ink will do.
  • Next, you need to shape your flowers.

TIP: Keep it simple!  I rolled my petal edges around the barrel of a pencil.  Then I used my worked my thumbs around the center of each flower layer to cup it.  This takes less than a minute for each flower.

  • When all the flower layers are shaped, stack them together using hot glue or wet glue to adhere.  Add a simple button to the center of each flower.
#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: Custom Dyed Ribbon

In Kathy World, no card is complete without ribbon.  To keep the cost down, I custom dyed white seam binding ribbon with my inks.  Then I tied all four bows at the same time.  To add more texture, I also tied 4 burlap string bows.

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: Card #1

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: Card #2

This card used one of the blue mats and a green micro dot paper from the 6×6 pad.

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: Card #3

For this card, I turned my card base on its side to create a side fold horizontal card.

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: Card #4

This is another horizontal side fold card.

#SimplyG45 Time To Flourish Gift Card Set: What’s inside?

Use the scraps and leftover cut aparts to simply decorate the inside of each card.  Make a quick and easy pocket and tuck in a tea bag or other small treat.  To make the pocket, punch a half moon shape with a circle punch.  Then adhere 3 sides of a leftover piece of the Patterns and solids paper.  This is a gift that anyone would love to receive!

I hope I’ve shared some tips and tricks that you can use in your own crafty adventures.  And be sure to link up your own #SimplyG45 project on the Graphic 45 Facebook page.  Use the #SimplyG45 to tag your project.  One lucky project will be randomly selected to win a great prize package.

Graphic 45 St. Patrick’s Day Tag Treat Holders

St. Patrick’s Day Tag Treat Holders with Graphic 45 Calendar Collections

Hello, G45’ers!  St. Patrick’s Day will soon be here!  I thought it would be fun to create some little goodies for my favorite leprechauns to make the holiday even more fun.  Graphic 45 has 3 gorgeous calendar collections: A Place in Time, Children’s Hour and Time to Flourish.  And I have 3 gorgeous grand girls!  What a happy coincidence!  I pulled out all 3 collections, some G45 Staples long Ivory Tags and went to work designing these St. Patrick’s Day Tag Treat Holders.

Aren’t they cute?  And they are a quick and easy project to make, which is even better!

A Place in Time Leprechaun Tag: How to turn a Tag into a Treat Holder

Each tag in this trio follows the same basic “recipe.”

  1. Place a long Staples Tag (I used Ivory) on your scoring tool so that the long side is against the rail and the bracketed edge is on your right.
  2. Starting at the left hand side, score the tag at 3.5″ and again at 4″.
  3. Gently fold the tag slowly so that you don’t crack the heavy cardstock.  You might need to very lightly moisten the area along the crease with a baby wipe or damp paper towel.
  4. Burnish with a bone folder to set the crease.
  5. Decorate with paper.
  6. Add a pocket to the inside.
  7. Thread ribbon through the grommet, and suspend a little shamrock charm, if desired.
  8. To make quick work of  covering the spine, use wide Graphic 45 washi tape.

It’s really that simple!

For this St. Patrick’s Day Tag Treat Holder, I filled an antique bronze charm with designer paper then covered it with a cabochon.  Green gingham ribbon wrapped around a paper spool and sealed with a button makes a sweet accent.

Decorate the inside with more pretty papers.  I die cut this pocket from designer paper, but you could also score an ATC tag in the same way that you scored the larger tag.

If you don’t want to put chocolate in the pocket, you can always add a tea bag, a gift card, movie tickets or some other small treat.

St. Patrick’s Day Tag Treat Holder with  Time to Flourish

This Time to Flourish Tag has a great botanical feel.

I love the little shamrock key that I hung from the grommet.

Here’s a peeky at the inside, all dressed in pretty shades of green and purple.

I had a pretty tag left from my Tags and Pockets to tuck in along with the chocolate treat.

Children’s Hour St. Patrick’s Day Tag Treat Holder

I still love this sweet image from the Children’s Hour March page. Because it was a little too large for my tag,  I fussy cut it to fit.  Next  I tucked stamps and flowers around it.  For a finishing touch, I hung a sweet chippie from the collection and a wee shamrock charm in the grommet.

Here’s the inside view.

Trim down an ephemera card and use it as a spot to write your greeting.

This design is adaptable to any occasion or theme.  Just change the papers and you’re good to go!

I hope I’ve inspired you to break out your gorgeous Graphic 45 papers, Staples tags and chips.  If so, my job is done here!

May the road rise up to meet you!

kathy

Graphic 45 2017 Planner

2017-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-4Graphic 45 2017 Planner: It’s a Good Day to Have a Good Day!

Hello, Friends!  Can it really be December already?  This month is filled to the brim with shopping, baking, parties, family, food and fun.  It’s wonderful to finish out the year with so much celebration, isn’t it?  Being the planner that I am, I’m also getting ready for a fabulous year in 2017 by creating a Graphic 45 2017 planner.  I don’t know about you, but I rely heavily on lists and calendars to keep me organized.  My motto is, “If it isn’t written down, it isn’t going to happen.”

2017-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-3Friends, meet my brain on paper.  This planner has a place for everything: appointments, design team deadlines, shopping lists, to do lists, photos and more all neatly organized into a Graphic 45 Kraft Mixed Media Album.  I’ve used some of my favorite collections (new and old) to add color and inspirational sayings to keep me organized and motivated throughout the year.

To help you get a feel for the “flow” of this album, I put together a YouTube video tour.

Did you like the little custom paper clip embellishments?  These are super quick and easy to make, so I thought you all might enjoy a short video tutorial so you can make some yourself.

I think I am going to make a whole bunch of these to have on hand to add to cards, layouts and tags.  They are so fun!

Birthdays, Holidays & Special Days 2017 Planner with Graphic 45

Hello, Friends!  This is the time of year when we all start thinking about organizing our lives and getting ready for the New Year.  I was in the middle of sorting out my Graphic 45 paper collections when I had a “lightbulb moment” and the idea for this Birthdays, Holidays & Special Days 2017 Planner was conceived.

birthdays-holidays-and-special-days-card-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-1My thought was this: Wouldn’t it be great to use up all these scraps and make a whole year’s worth of cards?  And then what if I bound them into an album with a pocket page to hold dates and addresses? And that little voice in my head said, “Yes, Yes!  Do it!”  So I did.

birthdays-holidays-and-special-days-card-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-2Like so many ideas, this turned out to be bigger than I realized.  BUT….I just kept plugging away at it and after a solid week of work, I had this lovely album, places to keep addresses and 24…COUNT ‘EM!….handmade cards.  As an added bonus, I cleared out tons of scraps and made room for more paper.  That’s a win/win for sure!

birthdays-holidays-and-special-days-card-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-8I affectionately call this my “big Mama” because it is huge.  The covers measure 8.5″ square and the binding is 5.5″ wide.  There are 12 double pocket pages inside, one for each month of the year.

Dates, Addresses and Cards at my fingertips

birthdays-holidays-and-special-days-card-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-9This Birthdays, Holidays & Special Days 2017 planner is a real mash up of Graphic 45 goodies.  I created the cover with Architecture & Alphabet DIY papers.  The large size of these papers makes them ideal for this sort of project.  Time to Celebrate decorates the front and inside covers.

birthdays-holidays-and-special-days-card-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-10Each month of the year is represented with a pocket for dates and addresses and a second pocket that contains 2 greeting cards themed to that month.

birthdays-holidays-and-special-days-card-planner-place-in-time-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-11I am not going to lie to you: this took a lot of time to make.  BUT, I have an album that can be used over and over again.  I just have to make new cards to fill the card pocket.  And, it will be very nice to have my addresses and special dates right at my fingertips in these handy pockets.  The cut apart pages from Time to Flourish and A Place in Time make the job much easier.

birthdays-holdiays-and-special-days-2017-card-planner-place-in-time-time-to-flourish-time-to-celebrate-by-kathy-clement-product-by-graphic-45-photo-1These are the January cards.  I have hoarded bits and pieces of both Place in Time and Time to Flourish ever since they were released.  It felt wonderful to put them to good use on these simple, easy to mail cards.

Mums and Pumpkins Card: Cheery Lynn Guest Designer

Time to Flourish Mums and Pumpkins Card: Cheery Lynn Guest DT

Hello, Friends!   There’s nothing prettier than a whole bunch of pumpkins paired up with pretty fall mums.  They are on display together everywhere at this time of year and they inspired the theme for today’s post. This Mums and Pumpkins Card is made with Cheery Lynn dies and Graphic 45 Time to Flourish paper.

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-4You wouldn’t think that purple and orange would be such good pals, but they look smashing on this mums and pumpkins card!  My designer pumpkins were die cut from patterned paper using the Fall Pumpkin Patch Die. I actually cut three sets of pumpkins: one from kraft paper to use as a base, then I paper pieced the patterned papers on top.

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-1But we said MUMS and pumpkins, didn’t we?  The Chrysanthemum Strip Die cuts 6 flower layers with one pass through the machine.  Again, I cut my flowers from patterned papers and then added a little flower soft to the centers.

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-3The bright orange doily was cut with the Ornament 1 die.  This is really heavy cardstock from Stampin Up, and the die is quite intricate, but it cut through the paper like buttah!

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-6Gatefold cards are so much fun to open!

mums-and-pumpkins-card-fall-pumpkin-patch-chrysanthemum-strip-die-by-kathy-clement-product-by-cheery-lynn-photo-7And here’s the inside in all it’s fall glory!  More pumpkins and flourishes on the inside, just for fun!

I’m curious…what’s your favorite color mum?  I do love the purple ones, but I’m also very fond of the rust/yellow combination.  They all look great with pumpkins, though!
