Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Announcement and Autumn Wildflowers Card

Hello, Friends!  I have a bit of news and a lovely Autumn Wildflowers Card to share with you today.  I’m pleased as punch to let you know that after a summer of filling guest designer spots on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog, I’ve been asked to officially join the team.  Hooray!  I’m looking forward to sharing tips and techniques for working with fabulous GSL chippies twice a month.  Now, let’s get down to business and see what kind of mixed media I have for you today!

autumn-wildflowers-card-harvest-by-kathy-clement-for-gypsy-soul-laser-cuts-product-by-authentique-and-gsl-photo-2Growing up in Vermont, Queen Anne’s Lace used to grow wild along the roadside.  I have always thought it was the most beautiful of all wildflowers.  When I found these lovely Queen Anne’s Lace chips in my DT box, I was thrilled!  Immediately, I knew I wanted to alter them with Distress Paints and Embossing Enamel.

Halloween in Wonderland Altered Altoids Tin:Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Guest Designer

Hello, Friends!  I’m tickled pink to be back as Guest Designer for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.  Sometimes, my pack rat tendencies are a good thing…as you will see in today’s project.  I think this Halloween in Wonderland Altered Altoids Tin is stinkin’ cute!

Altered Altoids Tin, Halloween in Wonderland, by Kathy Clement for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 1Honestly, every time I look at this little critter, I start grinning like the Cheshire Cat!   It’s a wonderful kit that will be coming to the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts shop soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Altered Altoids Tin, Halloween in Wonderland, by Kathy Clement for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 2The kit comes with 4 ATC sized frames that fit neatly inside the tin.  I used one of the Scalloped Altoids inserts on the front of my tin.  Tiny Alice Props (also coming soon) have been altered with Distress Paint and used to embellish the front of the tin.

Altered Altoids Tin, Halloween in Wonderland, by Kathy Clement for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 3I used Prima Rust Paste to create a really rusty tin.  Because I wanted it to look even older, I tapped it a few time with my hammer to create extra dings and dents.

Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card

Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card with Graphic 45 Times Nouveau

Hello,, Ribbon Lovers!  August is birthday month in our family.  We celebrate FIVE birthdays this month,! Two of those birthdays are for our sons.  Our eldest son was truly the Leader of the Pack for our 5 children He always had some grand plan in store for his siblings.  Sometimes it was building an Olympic Village in our backyard.  At others, it was building a set for a play. Or constructing an elaborate Lego village.  Whatever idea he had, they followed along with great expectation and enthusiasm.  He was our “Ideas Man.”  So in honor of his birthday, I created this funky Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday card.

Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon, Product Times Nouveau by Graphic 45, Really Reasonable Ribbon, Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Gears, Photo 4Isn’t it playful? I used the monochromatic papers from Graphic 45’s Times Nouveau Classic Collection.  Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Gears texture Sheet, and a Steampunk Gentleman add to the fun factor.  And of course, I tied it all together with fabulous Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon, Product Times Nouveau by Graphic 45, Really Reasonable Ribbon, Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Gears, Photo 1These bold green ribbons are from the Autumn Colors Ribbon Club Assortment.   I love the way they echo the colors and designs in the papers.  To make my border, I layered two strips of Kiwi Green Diamond Satin on the left hand side of the card.  Then I placed a strip of Kiwi Green Square in Square Print Satin between the two. This created a sort of tiered border.

A Look Inside The Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card

I want to add a personal note to the card, so I’ve lined the back side of the tag with ivory paper.

I hope you found some inspiration here today.  Making masculine cards is something I truly enjoy.   This is one of my faves for its whimsical design and playful nature.  I’d love to hear what you think in the comment section below.

Safari Adventure Zoo Party Ensemble

Graphic 45 Safari Adventure Zoo Party Ensemble

Hello, G’45er’s!  Welcome to the Jungle!  I have such a fun idea to share with you today.  I’ve  used Graphic 45’s Safari Adventure papers and Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Beach Cabanas to create a super cute Zoo Party Ensemble.  I’ve covered everything from quick and easy invitations, to table decor, to a zoo party banner made with Staples Alpha Tags and even a mini album to hold all your fond zoo party memories.  There’s LOTS to see today, so you might want to grab a cuppa and a snack to sustain yourself cuz it’s going to be wild!

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 2Here’s a shot of the beach cabanas that I turned into jungle huts surrounded by the party banner.  This is maybe the quickest, easiest banner you’ll ever make!  I simply traced  the Staples Alpha Tags onto patterned paper then used my craft knife to cut out the letter portion.  This goes really fast when you use your craft knife on glass because the blade just glides over the slick surface.  Each tag was backed with paper from the 12×12 prints and patterns, then traced inside the letters to make them pop.  I also painted the outer edge of each tag with black paint to anchor the design.  Add a few chips and tags, some pretty Rust Seam Binding, and the banner is done!

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 6Here’s the banner hanging with the huts.  If you look closely, you can just see the mini album and the invite peeping from the back.  This zoo party ensemble is large, so it was hard to photograph.  But isn’t it fun?

Zoo Party Ensemble Mini Album with Snapguide

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 21Here’s a look at the cover of the tri-fold mini album.  This is such a fun design, and really easy to make.  I have a Snapguide tutorial that will walk you through the steps. You’ll also find lots of detail shots and a complete supply list in the Snapguide.
Check out How to Graphic 45 Safari Adventure Tri-Fold Mini Album by Kathy Clement on Snapguide.

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 26Here’s a quick peek inside.  I have a flip out photo holder on the left with some hidden pockets, and a fun waterfall folio made with Tammy Tutterow’s Waterfall 1 Die (Spellbinders). And just look at all these fun animal print ribbons!

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 37Here’s a quick look at the album fully opened.  My son’s family has a wonderful tradition of taking the girls to the zoo when they turn two, so this zoo party ensemble is all set for sweet little Liddy’s 2nd birthday.

Transforming Beach Cabanas into Jungle Huts

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 7Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Beach Cabanas (coming soon!) were quickly transformed into these darling jungle huts.  (there are 5 in a set, but I wanted you to be able to see the details…and there are even more shots in the YouTube video that follows.)  I simply traced each hut onto Safari Adventure 12×12 prints and patterns then used brown packing paper to build the thatched roofs.  I spritzed the paper with Glimmer Mist, tore off strips, and shredded the ends with my fringe scissors.  Then the paper was glued in layers onto the roof.  Wrapping Burlap Ribbon and Ribbon Leaves around the base of each hut  added to the jungle hut feel.

Quick and Easy Zoo Party Ensemble Invitations

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 11

How about a 5 minute themed invitation to your Zoo themed party?  Well, this is it.  I used a small kraft bag. as the base.  Then I just cut a rectangle of leopard print paper, matted it on black paper and fussy cut the Safari Adventure Medallion.  You could make one of these, then scan it into your printer and make as many as needed.  The little banner tag is from the Safari Adventure Tags and Banners.

Zoo Party Ensemble, Safari Adventure by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo 18The actual invitation is even easier to create.  Simply flip over an ephemera card and add the pertinent details of who, what, when, and where.  Clip it into the bag and BAM!  You’re ready to get the party started!

Zoo Party Ensemble YouTube Video

To see each element in detail, I created a quick YouTube Video.  I hope you enjoy…and I hope I was able to share some ideas in this Zoo Party Ensemble that you’ll be able to use in your own party planning!
